"John scheduled time to come by and review the service I wanted, showed on time and asked thorough questions. He stated he would be back in touch within days. No feedback after a week, I contacted the company with no response. Followed up again a week later and no feedback. I scheduled time away from work only for them to blow me off, expected the service to be well over $1000. I can understand if it turned out to be something they weren’t interested in but poor customer service to just not communicate. I was very clear on the service I needed at initial contact so no surprise on their end when we reviewed the items at my home. Can not recommend this company."

"Our driveway and parking situation at our office was getting to be in bad condition, so I was looking around to find someone trustworthy and that was tedious on there work, after lots of time looking around I found JB paving & construction and I can say that I am very satisfied with the work they had put in. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for the services they provide. They put pride in there work and they make sure to get the job done correctly while being time sufficient."

"I am absolutely, 200% delighted and satisfied with the professionalism and quality workmanship. An established, local Houston family owned business, one of the three Gudino brothers, Eduardo, came out promptly to inspect the job, & emailed me a detailed written estimate within days and started the work on the next good sunny day. The main crack had turned into a fissure due to the TX 2019 Freeze. You now would never know it even existed, the work is so excellent, it is invisible and you would have to know it was there to even see it--if at all. The work is pure artistry. I also did not realize how many hairline cracks had to occur and I am so glad they were caught in time before they were big also. This is a 2 story residence with brick on 3 sides. The original masons failed to make an expansion joint! That also is invisible. Eduardo was there every minute overseeing the work done. The workman were neat, clean and came early in the morning to get the job done all in one day with the most minimum of intrusion. Everything was done to perfection. They are true artists. There can be no better in the business. I clearly will not hesitate to trust and recommend Los Tres Gudinos --200% completely satisfied and then some for their work, their professionalism and the pride they take in delivering perfection and excellent customer service. A big thank you so much for making my house perfect again."

"I was very impressed with their professionalism and quality of work. I was quoted for about twice as much to pave my walkway. I was able to include water drainage work for the same price others wanted just to pave. I will definitely recommend this company and will use their services again."

"We had our walkway damaged by a fallen tree during hurricane beryl. Fermin replied to our request on Angi and gave us a reasonable price and quick service. The crew did a great job and cleaned up everything before they left. I recommend Fermin for next paver work."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired them because they were on Angie list. Best experience I've ever had with a contractor in Houston. I was scared because I hate dealing with contractors...no offense. These guys were good and reasonably priced. They did my sheetrock after the plumbing repairs were completed after that freeze shit show."

Small jobs welcome

"Ponce, Workhorse's owner, visited the jobsite prior to his crew arriving to review jobsite conditions and ensure his team was prepared. Their work was excellent and prices fair. Workhorse ventures made us feel like a client and we will certainly use them again. I highly recommend these folks for your project too."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

It takes recycled asphalt 48 hours to initially harden and up to 3 months to fully cure. It’s best to stay off of recycled asphalt for at least 48 hours, then you can walk or drive standard vehicles on it. Hold off on driving heavy trucks or equipment on it for at least 7 days. Allowing the surface to melt together and harden ensures that the surface stays durable and long-lasting.

The material that’s best for your private road depends on your property, the climate in your area, and your personal preferences. Gravel is an affordable option, but some homeowners don’t like how it looks. It can be a pain to remove snow from, and it requires more ongoing maintenance than asphalt or concrete. However, while these other options require less maintenance and make snow removal a breeze, they’re more expensive and will need repairs from time to time. Ultimately, you’ll have to choose the road material that suits you and your property best.

Maintaining a driveway depends on its material. For concrete and asphalt, it's best to clean the surface thoroughly twice a year with a stiff broom and a pressure washer to remove accumulated dirt and debris. Sealing the driveway is crucial to protect it from water damage and freeze-thaw cycles. Before applying a sealant, pressure wash the surface to remove any loose sealant, dirt, or stains, as sealing over them will trap them. Any cracks or expansion joints should be filled with a flexible polyurethane caulk or asphalt sealer. In colder climates, use sand instead of salt for de-icing. Sand helps melt snow and ice without accelerating the freeze-thaw process, which can cause cracks.

Whether you decide to DIY paver installation or want to hire a pro, it’s smart to understand the process. First, you’ll need to prepare the area by clearing away grass and dirt. Next, you’ll add the paver base of gravel and sand before laying the pavers on top. You may need to cut pavers to fit your space or the landscaping design and add edging stones.
