"The Electric Guyz installed a dedicated electrical circuit required by the new KitcherAid double wall bake and convection ovens we bought. We discussed the project thoroughly with them and they accepted our suggestions on how best to route the new wiring to minimize the damage to our home's dà ©cor. On top of that, they charged us about half of what two other electrical contractors had estimated. We are very pleased with the professional work done by The Electric Guyz and will call them if we have any other electrical work to be done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The timeline for electrical projects in Arlington varies by scope. Permit approval from the Arlington Building Inspections Division typically takes 2 to 10 business days, with plan reviews for complex jobs adding extra time. Standard projects like panel upgrades or rewiring may take 1 to 3 days to complete, plus required inspections. Scheduling with a licensed electrician and planning ahead can help minimize delays.

Helpful?

Tackling electrical projects in Arlington yourself may save on labor, but risks include code violations, failed inspections, and safety hazards. Arlington requires permits and inspections for most electrical work, and unlicensed DIY work can lead to costly corrections. Hiring a licensed electrician ensures compliance with city codes, warranty protection, and peace of mind. For most homeowners, professional help is the safest and most reliable option.

Helpful?

In Arlington, most electrical projects—including panel upgrades, new circuits, or major repairs—require an electrical permit from the Arlington Building Inspections Division. Minor work like replacing a light fixture may be exempt, but always confirm with local authorities. Permit fees depend on project type and size. For accurate requirements, consult the Arlington Building Inspections Division or the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation before starting your project.

Helpful?

After completing electrical work in Arlington, regular maintenance is key for safety and longevity. Inspect outlets and panels annually for signs of wear, and test GFCI and AFCI devices monthly as recommended by the National Electrical Code. If you notice flickering lights or tripped breakers, contact a licensed electrician promptly. The Arlington Building Inspections Division also suggests periodic professional inspections to ensure ongoing code compliance.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Arlington, select materials that comply with the National Electrical Code and local amendments. Use copper THHN/THWN wiring for reliability, and opt for weather-resistant conduit for outdoor work. Local supply houses often stock code-approved AFCI and GFCI outlets, which are required in many areas. Always verify with your licensed electrician that materials meet Arlington's inspection standards for safety and compliance.
