I was told I would be billed $100 per hour for the plan. Specifically I asked for some roses and 3-4 trees in the front and 4-5 trees in the back. When I got the plan back it had 21 trees and no roses. He also gave me an irrigation plan. Later I was billed for the irrigation plan that I did not request or use. I went back to work out the billing for the irrigation plan and tell them I was never billed for the landscape plan. No was told I had to pay for the irrigation plan because they have it to me and that bill included the landscape plan. Two weeks later I received a $1100 bill for the land scape plan! I was amazed that a plan that was wrong took 11 hours! We used their company to install curbing and a few rocks. When the team came to install if I had not been there they would have installed 2x as much curbing than I had requested. After the install I was billed for more rocks than what was planned. Multiple times I tried to contact the company over the discrepancy, but only one person could make a change to the bill, the landscape architect, and he was not available. He would call back, but I am very busy and was not at my phone when he called. In the end the bill went to 60 days over due so I just payed it. In the end I was very displeased and would never recommend them to anyone. (Of note, the landscape bill did not arrive until after the curbing was done. Had I received the bill earlier I would NOT have done any more business with them)"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/abilene/masterscapes%C2%AE-reviews-459147.htm"},"position":3},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Rafter C Dirt And Dozer","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Fred O."},"reviewBody":"The installation itself went well. Initially the manufacturer if the tornado shelter had the size wrong. While there are "standard sizes" this installation required a modification that wasn't done and wasn't checked by the Rafter C folks prior to delivery so they had to take it back and get a rerplacment. I don't know who made the error but I saw the order was correct so I'm putting it on the manufacturer though Rafter C should have measured before it arrived I guess. Anyway the new shelter came 3 weeks after that and after some maneuvering they managed to get it in the garage and positioned. The rest of their portion of the install went well and the building inspector initially signed off on it. He called them back later and because he had decided a vent needed to be sealed. This wasn't Rafter C's fault as the installation was the first of this type they had done and that the city had inspected. We are preparing a response on sealing the vent and expect it to be accepted today.
I bought locally because I wanted to know the people doing the installation and paid more because of that. An out of town company would have made any adjustments such as the vent more difficult but buying locally limited my choice of manufacturer and I had to pay more to have the door swing changed top inward opening. In a tornado debris can land anywhere including against a shelter door making and outward opening door just silly. Changing that swing cost me $500.
I wanted to shelter to be accessible from inside the house without having to dig a hole in my garage floor - again a dumb indea, who knows what will land on top of that kind of shelter exit following a tornado - or add a pad outside that would look tacky and not be useful when we aren't sheltering from a storm. Other providers - out of the local area - offered such options but I was the first to ask for such a thing here. I had removed my traditional hot water heater in favor of a tankless model opening a space large enough in the garage. The shelter had to be 4" shorter than the standard model which cost nothing as they are all built as needed and I've already addressed the door swing costs which I felt were excessive. Putting it in the garage created the vent issue as you can't have a constantly open air exchange from a garage to the house, particularly the bedroom area, We'll seal that and install a carbon monoxide alarm to make sure all is well.
The installation could have gone better but for a one of a kind first of a kind job I thought Rafter C did well.

If you have a vegetable garden, you may have noticed it's getting real hard to find bags of *real* topsoil. Loads of companies (I won't name) are all on the bandwagon; filling bags with mulch, sticks, and Heaven knows what refuse from dumps, as topsoil. I could say a lot more about this and the planetary issues behind it...but....
This is where the staff at Garden World were so helpful. I explained I needed real soil, the disappointments I've run into, and they cut open numerous bags so I could inspect contents of stuff they have!
To save you and the staff some trouble, the one we landed on for fair price is Soil Mender Topsoil, in 1 cubic foot bags. (Top rt corner says "Premium Topsoil"). So, unlike the other brands, when we popped them open at home (20 bags) they ALL had real dirt. I would say about 90% dirt, and then some compost. Compare this with most of the other brands (for same price) that are about 10% soil, and 90% sticks -- and sold as topsoil!!!!
So, am really pleased with the whole experience -- affordable product -- never saw it anywhere else(we looked) -- and especially verrrrry grateful to the staff that went out of their way to help me find it. (really didn't expect them to cut bags open for me -- great help!) They made the difference."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/abilene/garden-world-reviews-5581002.htm"},"position":6},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Scherz Landscape Co","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Cheri D."},"reviewBody":"I can't say enough about Jeff and all the folks at Scherz! Land surveying can help give clear guidance on your property boundaries for numerous situations. And in some cases, having your land surveyed is a requirement. Some common reasons to have your land surveyed include:
Planning for construction projects, like building a fence
Locating utilities, such as plumbing fixtures
Settling property line disputes
Creating subdivisions
Meeting mortgage requirements
Selling your property
Land surveying costs about $530 for the average homeowner. However, your total cost could range anywhere from $200 to $1,000 or more. Factors like the size of your property play a significant role in what you pay, but other things like the survey type and the time of year can also impact the final cost.
For example, if you’re looking for a simple boundary survey, you can expect to pay between $100 and $600. However, if you want a more in-depth survey that depicts the elevations of your hills and trees, you can expect to pay between $500 and $1,200 for a topographic survey.
A few different types of land surveys can help determine certain features and boundaries of your property. These include:
Boundary surveys describe the actual borders of a property. These are generally required when trying to get construction permits issued.
Location surveys provide much of the same information as a boundary survey but also include in-depth information about any improvements made to your property.
Mortgage location surveys are usually required by lenders and title companies before financing or offering an insurance policy.
Site-planning surveys are done before applying for building permits and can be issued before any major home improvements.
Topographic surveys provide a formal map of land elevations. It can also describe the location and size of natural features and any land improvements.
Land survey reports provide a lot of helpful information about your property and land. The exact information provided depends on the type of survey you have done, but common information that they can provide includes:
Location of utility fixtures
Clear boundaries and dimensions of your property
General topography
Land elevation information
Confirmation of easements or encroachments
Land surveys don’t technically expire. They do serve as a point of reference and a snapshot of your property, though, so as soon as you make changes to your property (and even if your neighbor makes certain changes to theirs), your existing land survey becomes inaccurate, and a new one must be done. Even if you don’t make any changes to your property, many states only guarantee the accuracy of a land survey for five to ten years.
