"This company did a job in the rain instead of waiting for the next day. My stamping was extremely crooked, the steps were not even and were different heights, the seal was not done correctly and they refused to fix their error. Now, we are getting bubbling as well. The cutting was also done crooked and the whole job was lazy. What should have been a beautiful project was money wasted and will need to be completely redone in a couple of years. After immediately pointing issues out, they refused to redo their work and continued to "fix" it which did nothing. I'd never use them again."

If you’re using crushed stone or gravel as a base material, then yes, you should compact it to prevent movement of the top layers. For instance, if you don’t compact crushed stone or gravel and you lay pavers on top of them, the pavers will shift over time. However, if you’re using gravel or crushed stone as a top layer for aesthetic purposes, you might not want to compact the materials.
