The best type of rock for landscaping depends on your needs. If you want to build an affordable driveway, consider gravel. If you want an aesthetically pleasing patio, you can’t go wrong with flagstone. If you’re building a water feature, consider river rock as the base. Start by figuring out your landscaping project, then choose the best rock for that project.

It depends on the model of your pool. You’ll always have to level the topsoil, but most vinyl-lined pools require an additional 1- to 2-inch layer of sand to protect the liner. No one likes running out of materials during a project, so calculating the right amount of gravel needed for your driveway is an absolute must. Multiply your driveway’s length by width by the depth of the gravel (in feet). For gravel depth, convert to a decimal (i.e., 4 inches is 0.33 feet). This will give you the cubic feet of material that you need. 

If you’re looking for cubic yards, divide that above number by 27.
