Customers say: Quick response

"We just moved into our new home. It's on one acre. Between closing and actually moving in, the grass got way too tall. I hit a tree stump with my mower first time out!!! We called the Heavens Handywork guys who came by to give us an estimate, saw our situation needed immediate attention and got right on it as an emergency situation. We were so pleased with their consideration, we decided to get estimates on grinding several tree stumps and doing some landscaping work. We have already begun recommending them to our friends. Very highly recommended service. 12-2017 update: We've since hired this service to completely remove all landscaping from around the front and side of the house. They removed trees, bushes, and everything else!! They came in and within a single day, completely! cleared everything, including several large trees!! We then hired them again. This time to design and plant all new bushes and mulch the beds. We couldn't be happier with the final results. This service is confidently and highly recommended for performance and reasonable pricing."

"We had two different grades of stone delivered and installed. The second delivery was delayed by a mistake at the quarry but Jonathan at Putnam Greenspace worked with us and the quarry to reschedule the second delivery /install went as perfectly as the first."

"John did a great job cleaning up my entire front and back landscaping. He pulled out all the weeds, dying hydrangeas, rose bushes, old bulbs and his most hated enemies, monkey grass and green onions. He then added 3 loads of rock on top of the of the areas. The price was very reasonable and completely worth it. He is a one man crew and managed to get it done in about 4 days. Thank you John."

"Had them redo my patio. Should have went with dirt Dreams to begin with… chose another company with cheaper price and ultimately had to get it redone bc of water going towards our house… we learned a lesson choose workmanship over cheap pricing or the lowest bid. Aaron was very helpful and his team were so good and they did everything they said they would do!"

"I had a concrete sidewalk installed, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! He did an excellent job from start to finish. He was professional, answered all of my questions, and made sure I understood the process. The work was completed quickly without sacrificing quality, and the finished sidewalk looks great. It’s clear he takes pride in his work and cares about customer satisfaction. I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing concrete work done!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

There are several reasons your grass may be dying that could be in or out of your control. The most common issues include poor drainage, under/overwatering, poor soil pH, low soil nutrients, low sunlight, or too much foot traffic.

If you’re hiring a landscaper to plant the garden of your dreams, you do not need to provide them with plants that you bought yourself from a nursery. While you certainly can provide your landscaper with plants, keep in mind that some nurseries provide discounts to landscaping companies, therefore potentially lowering your materials cost. Beyond the cost of the plants themselves, you need to have additional materials like topsoil and mulch for the project. Most likely, your landscaper can get a discount on these materials as well, so it’s worth speaking with them before making any large purchases.

Finding a reputable greenhouse or nursery should start online, where you can read through customer reviews to gauge the quality of the plants sold and the customer experience. Look out for customers complaining about plants dying shortly after purchase, and try to choose a greenhouse known for hiring employees who are able to explain how to care for the plants you purchase. It’s also a good idea to head to a few greenhouses to see the selection they offer and make sure they carry the plants or trees you’re looking for.

A green home is one that focuses on conservation, with the goal often being net-zero carbon emissions and self-sustainability. It will often include some kind of self-generation equipment, like solar panels or a small wind turbine, high-efficiency electrical components and mechanicals, and high-quality insulation and air sealing to reduce the loss of conditioned air. Many green homes also include xeriscaping or rainwater collection to cut down on drainage and water consumption.

Determining how many boulders you’ll need for your landscaping project depends on the area you need to cover and how big each boulder is. First, you’ll need to determine how big of an area you want covered, then divide that by the base surface area of the boulders. A landscape professional can help you determine how many boulders will be right for your project.
