"I am so glad we found these guys. Very professional and honest. They took down three trees that were potential hazards to our home. They ground the stumps and shredded the trees and left us the mulch. They know their stuff."

"Excellent job. Very polite and courteous. Definitely would recommend. I hired the company to trim 3 very large trees and grind a stump. These trees had a dense canopy and a lot of dead branches. He listened to my concerns and patiently answered all of my questions. He also pointed out a couple of large dead branches in one tree that had broken off but not yet fallen and asked that I be careful around that tree. On the day of the service, they removed all of the dead branches & thinned out the trees to prevent further issues. They hauled everything away including a pile of dead branches I had in a corner of the yard. They also did a great job on the stump. The yard is still well shaded, but looks so much better. I no longer have to worry about picking up a truckload of dead branches after every windstorm."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

Deciduous shade trees (the type of trees whose leaves fall off in autumn) need to be pruned in late winter—between February and March. That’s because it’s easier to find and remove sick or dead branches when no leaves are present. And wounds close and heal faster in colder temperatures so pruning them at this time also makes them less prone to infection.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.

Grinding down a tree helps reduce the risk of foundation damage and pests and even helps your home’s curb appeal. Stumps can also be a safety hazard. If grass grows above the stump and someone else mows your yard, they may be in for a rude awakening when they accidentally hit it.

Dead tree branches should be removed, because they can cause the tree to lose nutrients. They can also make the tree more susceptible to disease and pests. Removing dead and diseased branches can help the tree recover and increase the odds of saving a dying tree. Make sure to prune the tree correctly to avoid damaging it further.
