"Cody with Blackjack did a wonderful job excavating, clearing and grading my property. He is very honest, responds quickly, and does what he says. All for a fair price, hard to find this quality service these days. Highly recommend!"

"Smoky Top Contractor is a great crew! I needed some land cleared and concrete poured for a house. They moved quickly from the process of quoting, doing the job, and cleaning up! They are very fairly priced as well. I will definitely be giving them a call for my next project !"

"We had Michael Sovastion and Wade Loden out to our property to do some land clearing. Both gentlemen were on time. They were within the budget quoted. The work conducted was impeccable. They were polite, and went above and beyond. The care that they put into the job was most outstanding. I was very impressed of the attention to detail and care that was put into the equipment the used for the job. (This is a Military small owned business) that is doing outstanding work at every level. I plan to bring them back for more work in the future. My wife and myself are retired Military, we expect attention to detail and we got it 100% and then some. They have set the standard for all others to follow. Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

A land survey defines and records the physical aspects of a property, including its boundaries, dimensions, easements, features, and sometimes topographical information. In contrast, a land appraisal determines the property's monetary value. While an appraiser will often consult a land survey to understand the property's physical specifications, the survey itself does not determine the land's value.

A land survey can take anywhere from a few hours to a month or more, depending on the size of the property, the type of survey, the property’s accessibility and topography, and the availability of historical property records. A simple boundary survey to determine a fence line can be completed in a day while surveying 50 acres of undeveloped woodlands may take weeks or longer.

There are a couple of ways you can determine the depth of your well. One method is to use a device called a well sounder. This tool has a long measuring tape containing a sensor to alert you once the end reaches the water.

Or you can DIY it by using a long tape measure with a half-filled bottle of water attached to it. Lower the tape measure into your well. Once you feel tension on the tape, you’ll know the bottle has reached your static water level. This will give you an approximate idea of your well’s depth.

If you can’t find any records online, you’ll need to contact your county clerk’s office to do further research. They should have property records on file, or can at least point you in the right direction of who to contact. You can also speak with your neighbors about when their houses were built because they were likely built around the same time.
