Small jobs welcome

Customers say: Quality work

"Joe Kunkel does exceptional work, I hired him to repair some wide slat blinds. I needed blinds fixed in a bedroom window and another large window in a library, if this job could not be done it would be having to replace blinds for nineteen windows as the blinds have been discontinued. Joe came in right in the middle of Covid 19 catastrophe, mask on an very aware of the protocols and was professional and kind. Joe was able to fix one of the blinds right on the spot. The larger blind was the worry, the blind had been discontinued so he was going to search the internet for the parts. Joe advised me it would be at least two weeks and could be longer, less than a week later Joe called and asked when he could come over and complete the job. Joe was able to repair both blinds and saved me a lot of money and time. I will highly recommend Joe Kunkel for blind repairs, but there is more! The “More” in his companies name. Joe installs new blinds and all kinds of window treatments, he is a true professional!!!"

"The pro was on the ball with a timeline and costs involved, and it’s unfortunate that I found a solution to the problem on my own and didn’t need his services. I’d definitely keep him in mind though if you need a good contract done."

"This project was to install a dog door, but it was not a typical project. It involved cutting through the exterior brick, then cinder block and finally the interior wall. Dakota was able to accomplish the install in a couple of hours and it looks great!! I wouldn't hesitate to call him again for future projects. Excellent service and the pricing was very reasonable!!"

Window Shutters questions, answered by experts

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.
