"Mr [Member Name Removed], Thanks for this review! You've really laid out the most convincing case for energy efficiency work done thoroughly and completely rather than cheaply and slap dash. Comfort, air quality, noise reduction, AND dramatically lower power bills---THANKS for choosing NPB. We look forward to working with you again."
I contacted 8 different providers on Angie's List and 3 - just 3 responded back.
Dave came in middle of the road on price but head and shoulders above on professionalism. Having just purchased my home it was not yet occupied and I was looking for a contractor that could work with me on my projects for years to come. Neighborhood Pro Builders is definitely the team for me.
This started out as a quote for a full guest bathroom remodel and let's just say my desires out weigh my budget
which lead to the 'must get done now' list that Dave and his team worked on.
The downgrade to a B I punctuality had to do with initial start day was delayed. It was due to the job before mine going longer and the painters not being able to start as planned. Things like this happen but if your schedule is tight I want you to know mine was off by 2 days.
My plan is have them replace my windows in the early spring and then do the roof in late spring and hopefully sometime we can get back to redoing the guest bath.
The owner David Trentlage came to my house and we discussed what I wanted. He gave me a detailed and realistic estimate on the cost of the projects. He was also great at keeping me posted on how everything was progressing. The work crew was very skilled and did a beautiful job, I couldn?t be more pleased. After all the jobs were completed, they cleaned up everything very nicely, hauled away all the trash materials from the jobs. David and I walked through and inspected each project together to make sure I was completely satisfied.
Neighborhood Pro Builders is also active in various aspects of home energy efficiency, and they had a lot of good advice
about how I could improve my house heat/cold loss.
I definitely recommend them!
1. The upstairs of the house is a lot more comfortable. I don't ever remember the 2nd floor bonus room being comfortable in the middle of the day when it's 105 degrees!
2. The cycle times on the air conditioners are a lot shorter - they are running a lot less.
3. The 2nd floor a/c actually cycles during the middle of a hot summer day - it used to just run all day. And, unbeknownst to me, somebody set the upstairs thermostat to 71 (usually keep it at 75) and it was still cycling in the middle of the day! (I honestly didn't think you could seal and insulate a 2nd floor well enough to do that.)
4. The house is a lot quieter overall and more comfortable now.
5. From the HVAC seal, I am getting a lot more air flow to the areas of the house furthest from the a/c. The 2nd floor bonus room used to get very little air flow but it's getting a lot of cold air now.
One other thought concerning windows. From a cost/ benefit standpoint, it does not make sense to replace all of your windows. We just caulked the heck out of the existing windows. I've seen some estimates showing the payback on replacing all your windows is about 60 years!
Finally, I will definitely be using NPB in the future!
Whatever your project, it's at least worth a call to NPB to get an estimate. Dave can be a great advisor on any project. And, he's a general contractor so he can do any project on your house that you may need.
I will definitely use NPB in the future!
NPB's crew showed up on time, as promised, and completed the painting and repair project in just two days. They did a great job in cleaning up the work site after they were done.
Perhaps the best thing NPB did for the project was to help repair / improve a problem spot on my roof with water runoff that was causing the trim to rot out. This was a similar type of repair that they had done for me on another house in 2010. The repair entailed using a PVC type product that looks like regular white board trim (won't rot) and flashed behind the problem area to prevent water getting behind the trim.
NPB is trying to do more than just paint your house - they will work with you and suggest reasonable ways to solve problems at your home!
I will definitely use NPB again!
