"I called Jones electric and asked them to come out and check some problems we were having with our electrical. He came out and I wasn't home yet but my son was there. He checked our box and told us something that was wrong with it which was something we needed to take up with the power company. But this man came out and took his time to help us and he did not even charge me one dime. And my electrical was in bad shape and we still haven't got things fixed because we have to wait on the power company. But I think this man for coming out and checking what he did and telling us what he thought was wrong and doing it out of the kindness of his heart. God will bless. Jones electrical fourth day I've done for me. I'm very appreciative of it because I'm going through stage 4 cancer taking chemo and I'm really stressed out over a lot of things and he just really blessed me in a way that took stress off of me instead of adding anything to me. I would highly recommend Jones electrical to anyone"

"Bob and his crew took care of some electrical problems with our first home purchase. It is a 100-year-old house and had various electrical issues due to both its age and past renovation work that was done poorly. Bobs team did an absolutely fantastic job getting everything sorted out and were open and transparent throughout the process, making it a stress-free process for us and giving me a huge dose of /feel good/ about the safety of the home we are moving into. I am a worrier and a perfectionist by nature, and this being my first home purchase turned those tendencies up to 11. I am sure they wished at times that I would just let them alone so they could get the job done, but all of my questions and concerns were met with open, honest, and kind spirited responses. So on top of the great work, they were just good people. I cannot recommend them highly enough."

"I had a car charger installed and was really happy with the work. He was responsive, showed up when he said he would, and the install came out clean and professional. Everything was explained clearly, the work area was left neat, and the charger works exactly as it should. Definitely someone I?d recommend if you need electrical work done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The best place to put an electrical outlet depends on your needs. A good rule of thumb is to install outlets every 6 feet in large rooms. Hallways over 10 feet long need one electrical outlet minimum.

If you find yourself needing extra plug-ins for all of your gadgets, you may want to increase the number of electrical outlets in your room. When adding outlets, keep in mind that older homes could have outdated electrical panels. In these cases, you may need a pro to upgrade you from 100-amp to 200-amp service before increasing the power load.

Smart light switches are designed to be compatible with most lights and traditional home wiring, but there are several key factors to check. First, verify your home's wiring, as some smart switches require a neutral wire to operate, which may not be present in older houses (often built before 1985). Always check the wiring requirements for the specific model you choose. Second, consider your light bulbs; while smart switches work with almost any light, using a dimming feature requires dimmable bulbs, such as dimmable LEDs. Finally, ensure you have the necessary network connection. Most smart switches need a Wi-Fi connection for remote control, but some older models might use other standards like ZigBee, which would require a compatible hub.

A C-wire is typically blue, but don’t rely on colors to find which wire is which when it comes to thermostat wires. The C-wire may also be black, brown, or purple. Instead, if you’re looking for the C-wire, look at the thermostat panel for a wire connecting to “terminal C,” or call in a pro to help you look for a C-wire.

Several signs can indicate a light switch is bad. If the switch feels loose, slides down after you flip it, or requires multiple flicks to turn the light on, it may be failing. Other common indicators include flickering lights or a general failure to turn the light on or off. Pay attention to any unusual sounds, such as crackling, buzzing, or popping when you operate the switch. More serious signs, which can present a fire or shock hazard, include the switch feeling excessively warm or hot, sparking, smoking, or emitting a burning smell. If you notice any of these dangerous signs, stop using the switch immediately and call an electrician.

Heated floors use less electricity than traditional heating systems. The average electric bill for running radiant floor heating nonstop is around $3 per day. For example, a 1,500-watt electric space heater costs around $4.80 per day, a 27,000-BTU electric boiler costs around $6.25 per day, and a 100,000-BTU electric heater costs $46 per day.
