"They came quick and said it needed replaced. They gave me a quote and made appointment. Installers came quick, worked hour and a half trying to install. They then decided it did not fit and they would take it back and get a correct size unit. Said they would be calling to schedule new appt. That was nearly a week ago and i have heard NOTHING from them."

There isn’t a way to convert electric fireplaces easily or cheaply to gas. To convert an electric fireplace to gas, you’d need to remove your old fireplace and get a completely new install.

Only yellow Teflon tape is approved for use on gas lines. Also called yellow PTFE tape, it is thicker and specifically rated for use on natural gas and propane connections. Standard white Teflon tape is not safe for gas applications.
