"I cannot recommend Jose with New Seasons Outdoor Services highly enough! He recently releveled our patio pavers and redirected our guttering to prevent future damage, and the results are incredible. Jose is a rare find, he is professional, punctual, and an excellent communicator. If he said he was going to do something, he did it exactly when he promised and executed it even better than we imagined. He even got creative and added a stunning basket weave inlay that completely transformed the look of our patio. His work far exceeded our expectations, all while being very reasonably priced. If you’re looking for a hardworking, honest professional for your home improvements, Jose is your guy. We will definitely be using him for all our future projects. Thank you, Jose!"

Customers say: Terrific value

"Overall we are very pleased with the project, the look, quality and price of the work. Chris and Jose did a good job of communicating with us and the documentation was good. They encouraged us to visit Power Rental to see what the product would look like and that was very helpful. We found what we wanted. The price was good and the work was good. They even put in the railings for free. We interviewed 8 other vendors and they were our first choice. The only disconnect was the condition our yard was left in when done...if I knew the extent of damage ahead of time, I could have at least moved some of the decorate gravel, rocks, etc. They attempted to smooth out some of the deep tractor marks on one side, but most looked like a mudbog competition and it took several days of hard labor to clean up the mess. Nevertheless, we would recommend them to others, perhaps just encourage them to be forthcoming with how the tractor will impact the areas around the project. Good job though!! We are happy with the final product!!"

"Great to work with never tried to push more than I requested. Allen closed a 12’ open end of my deck with vinyl rails and post then enclosed the bottom with lattice. Great job and I’ve already scheduled for another project."

Patios questions, answered by experts

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.

A prefab sunroom will last for between 10 and 20 years in most cases, although you could get up to 50 years out of a high-quality prefab sunroom. In addition to material quality, your prefab sunroom’s lifespan will depend on the foundation type and the climate in your area. Extreme weather and expansive soil can decrease the expected life.

The least expensive way to enclose a porch is with screens. These protect the room by preventing insects from entering and, if you live in a warm climate, provide excellent airflow during hot summer months. Screens cost far less than any other alternative, so if you are against getting permits, spending too much, or enclosing your porch in walls or glass, screens are the best choice.

In almost all cases, you will need permits if you plan on building a sunroom over your patio, but regulations and requirements will depend on your municipality. Permits to enclose your patio will usually cost between $300 and $1,000. Since navigating local building codes and zoning requirements is challenging—and the consequences of not following them can be extremely expensive—we strongly recommend hiring a sunroom builder to complete the work and pull the permits for you.

Creating a screen room is one of the most cost-effective ways to enclose a patio so you can still use it in the winter. Most screen rooms aren’t insulated, so you’ll need to wrap up warm or use patio heaters in winter. Also, be aware they might not hold up well if you live in a location where heavy snow is common.
