"All Service Moving was exceptional. Great customer service - easy to schedule and flexible. Royce & Frost did an AMAZING job moving all of our very heavy and fragile belongings. They handled all of our requests and items with care and worked both efficiently and quickly. They were super friendly and very customer service oriented. I can't thank them enough for the GREAT job they did. I highly recommend All Service Moving for anything moving and/or storage related. And DEFINITELY request Royce & Frost to handle your job. "Our townhouse had three levels, so there was a lot of carrying up and down stairs. The crew handled beds, dressers, a sectional, dining furniture, boxes, bikes, and several awkward garage items"

Moving questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use a dolly to move a treadmill, though you won't always need one. If your treadmill has wheels and you’re moving it to a different location on the same floor, you can likely skip the dolly. But if you’re moving it up a flight of stairs or to a new home, a dolly can help you move it more easily.

It is certainly possible to move a piano without hiring movers, but it’s not recommended. Not only will you need at least four people to lift and maneuver the piano, but getting it around tight corners and down flights of stairs might not be possible without the help of movers. Plus, pianos are exceptionally heavy and bulky, which means you and any helping hands are at risk of injury, as well as an increased risk of damaging your piano. Ultimately, it’s always worth it to call in a professional piano mover.

The most cost-effective way to move is to DIY most of the moving tasks, including packing, driving the moving truck, and loading and unloading. While DIY moving is typically the least expensive option, it makes the process much more time-consuming and difficult. To eliminate some of the physical and time stress associated with DIY moves, consider hiring professional movers for the most essential tasks, such as loading and unloading furniture, and completing easier tasks on your own.

To prepare for moving a piano, start by documenting its current condition with photos in case of any damage during the move. Secure the piano's lid and wrap the instrument, including its keys and pedals, with bubble wrap and moving blankets for protection. Note that if you have hired professional piano movers, they may handle this step for you.

Next, prepare the space. Measure any tight spaces or doorways to ensure the piano will fit through. Clear a wide path from the piano's location to the exterior door, removing any furniture or obstacles. It is also helpful to prop open doors to make the exit easier.

On moving day, ensure the moving truck can park as close to the exit as possible. For safety, keep children and pets away from the moving area to prevent accidents or distractions.

It’s typically not advisable to move heavy furniture by yourself. However, if you are confident that you can do it safely, there are several different tools you can use, including a hand truck, a four-wheel dolly, or an appliance dolly. If you’re moving furniture upstairs or downstairs, a hand truck is the most suitable choice. Regardless of what you choose to use, always ensure that the furniture is well-balanced and secure by using lifting straps or tie-down straps to keep it in place.
