I am currently a 19 year old 1st year commercial electrical apprentice. I have aspirations of starting my own residential business some day and plan to do so. I am on track to get my Electrical License so offer more services and jobs. Until then I can do small in and out jobs. Not looking to empty your pockets, I’m just simply trying to get my experience up and hopefully get a business running. I have previous experience in HVAC installations and maintenance, Residential wiring, Residential Duct work installation, Welding, Framing, and now currently Commercial Electrical. I also take Cashapp, Venmo, and Apple Pay. Thank you, God bless you.

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

In most parts of the country, it’s required by law that a licensed electrician be the one to connect your ceiling fan if the ceiling hasn’t already been wired to support one. We strongly recommend going with a professional if you need to install wiring into your home to power a ceiling fan.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

It is relatively rare for a ceiling fan to fall. A properly installed ceiling fan is attached firmly to a ceiling joist. Even if the fan is wobbling, it’s unlikely to fall down. However, you should promptly repair your fan when you notice wobbling or imbalance just to be safe.

Installing a ceiling fan offers multiple benefits, including improved air circulation, enhanced room aesthetics, and cost-effective temperature control, which can reduce reliance on HVAC systems and save energy bills.

Many ceiling fan mounts feature a design that can accommodate slight slopes by using a ball joint mechanism at the end of the downrod. If your ceiling has a steeper slope than your fan allows for, you can install a downrod that will allow your fan to safely hang below the slope.
