"I could not have been more pleased with R&P Outdoor Solutions' price and performance! I am an elderly woman living on social security, and I had never imagined that I could afford to have the two dead trees in my yard cut down. I lived in fear every time bad weather surfaced, worrying about them crashing into my cabin. I received the recommendation from Angi's List, and placed the initial phone call to R&P Outdoor Solutions for an estimate at 4:00 p.m. on May 5th. By 6:00, they were at my cabin and gave me a ridiculously low estimate (these were two *big* black walnut trees). To keep the estimate low, I asked only to have the trees cut down, not removed from the property. Of course, I agreed to their price, and by 7:30 p.m., both trees were down with no damage to my property. Richard and Jeremy continued to work for another hour and a half, cutting those trees into more manageable sizes for my husband and I to deal with. I was blessed with this recommendation. This has been such a weight off my shoulders. Both Richard Wilcox and his partner, Jeremy, were wonderful! Could not give a higher recommendation! Five Stars! Thanks, Angis List!"

"I couldn't be happier with the results. Leigh and the guys at Organic Enlightenment did an amazing job. Leigh, the owner, was extremely responsive and easy to communicate with. He called me back almost immediately after I inquired about their service on this site. That same day, he was on my property giving me a quote. And speaking of price, the quote was very fair for the services rendered. These trees are huge, partially hanging over my neighbor's house, my shed, and my fence. This was no small job, but it was no match for Leigh and his crew. Their machinery is top-notch, the crew works hard, they took safety seriously, and went out of their way to make sure my property wasn't damaged throughout the process. Everyone was extremely professional, as well. After the project was complete, the crew cleaned up the yard, and you wouldn't even know they'd been there. I'd highly recommend these guys. I've worked with several tree removal companies in the area over the years, but Organic Enlightenment has been the best in my book."

This is how the skyline looked after we removed several trees that were too close to the right side of the house. There were more trees too close on the left side of the house, that can be removed in another project.
This is a good opportunity to see how we set up a driveway job. You can see our rear-mounted bucket truck, and plywood to protect the driveway as needed. You can also see our chipper and chip truck, and our tool trailer is parked along the curb.
This is after getting set up to cut the largest tree.

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

Whether you should remove the roots of a dead tree depends on whether they’re damaging nearby areas. For instance, if the roots continue to grow near sidewalks, driveways, or the foundation of your home, they can cause damage. If you want to plant something else in that spot, removing the roots can make it easier for the new tree or plant to grow.

Tree roots are hearty and complex systems, so they don’t die immediately after the rest of the tree is removed. If you leave the root system in place, it takes anywhere from two to seven years for it to run out of nutrients. It is worth noting, however, that the roots stop growing and expanding after cutting down the rest of the tree.

Some people prefer to leave or even carve a leftover stump, but we recommend removing it if possible. You can often dig out smaller trunks with a shovel once they have died and dried out. You can have stumps professionally removed, or request a service to grind them down to ground level so they can be replaced with other landscaping or objects.

The ideal depth of a tree notch depends on the tree, but it should usually be between 20% and 25% of the tree’s depth. However, if the tree is leaning towards the direction of the notch, it can be cut more shallowly—at as little as 10% of the depth. When the tree is leaning away from the direction it needs to be felled, you can cut deeper, closer to 30%.
