"Elliot Custom Builders did a fantastic job of remodeling my 100 year old home. From the design phase through the construction phase, the quality of their work was outstanding. Equally important was that Elliott Custom Builders paid careful attention to the many architectural details and unique challenges that often occur when restoring a 100 year old home. Tom Elliott and his team of talented craftsmen are amazing. I happily recommend their services."

"Last year in 2024 I hard them to come and remodel my kitchen and flooring. I am disabled and I have a hover around which I can take outside. However when the weather got warm I was going to take my hub around out into the yard but the door frame was too small from what it used to be. I called and asked if they could come and modify the door frame and they were quick to respond and modified my door frame from the kitchen out to the porch. Now I can take my hub around outside and enjoy working in my flowers. I highly highly recommend Robin's remodeling. They are a fantastic crew and deserve nothing but the best. Thank you ever so much Mary Knight"

"Great! We are so glad we hired Green Home Installations to build our sturdy, attractive privacy fence. The crew was exceptional: hard-working, cheerful, creative, solutions-oriented. And, expert fence builders. We enjoyed interacting with the company owner, Robert Barnett, finding him committed to integrity, service, and quality. We wish we had other jobs for them to do!"

Garages questions, answered by experts

You don’t need a garage door opener unless you need or desire the convenience they offer. While you may be able to open some garage doors manually, having a garage door opener makes life a lot easier. There is an exception, though—a motorized opener is an absolute must if you have a two-car garage (or larger), as the door will be too heavy for the average person to lift on their own.

When you’re painting a garage floor, it’s best to use a combination of rollers and brushes. You’ll want to start with a brush, making a border around the edges where the floor meets the wall. From there you can use a roller, though some people also like to do the entire first coat with a brush because it’s easier to work the paint into the textured concrete.

Garage door sensors should be installed on each side of the door, typically six inches off of the ground. The sensors communicate through an infrared beam, so they need to face each other directly for the system to work properly. Make sure they’re level and aligned, and keep the area around them clear. If they’re too high or out of alignment, your garage door won’t function properly.

Garage door sensors work by using infrared beams to detect objects in the door’s path. One sensor sends a beam while the other receives it. When the beam is broken—say, by your car or anything else—the sensors signal the door to stop or reverse. It’s all about safety and making sure nothing gets trapped under the door. If they’re misaligned, the beam doesn’t connect, and the garage door might stay open or close regardless of obstructions.

There are several reasons garage door cables can come off multiple times. The most common reason is that the springs have too much or too little tension and require adjusting. Other causes include track alignment issues that keep the door from operating correctly or smoothly. A damaged winding drum or obstructions in the cable's way can also cause it to come loose.
