"They did a fantastic job! The deck is in good shape, but had never been sealed or stained. Therefore, some mold had gotten on it and it just needed to be stopped before it got any worse. They cleaned it very thoroughly and all the mold is gone! Their communication was awesome as well.
They are coming back in a week to paint our front door and shutters, and then coming in early October to seal our deck. We look forward to future projects with them as well!
Would recommend them to anyone!"

"Did a good job patching some areas that had been poorly done originally.  Spackling lines on the walls and ceiling seemed to be covered the way I wanted, except the nail pops.  But still, I hired them for more ceiling work.  The next time a worker came he did more ceiling work but then sanded  down the wall spackling that first guys placed which then exposed the previous lines i wanted covered.  I have been so disgusted with the work I swore I  would not hire another contractor from Angie's list for house repairs.   The ceiling and walls have not been painted because the lines show up.  Which they said that the paint would cover it, so wrong. Once in awhile I'll try to do spackling myself with very little sucess.
The extra ceiling work around some light fixtures was done and the worker did ask about the work on those areas and was I happy.  But after he was done it looked better,  but he said he would have do more work and need more time (more money).  I  said no.  Four hundred dollars was already more than I wanted to spend.
I gave this company $400.00 and am so disappointed with the work  I  won't paint  over it and it's been that way for over a year.  I am reminded of this terrible work every day several times a day, since then.  My wife knows how much it angers me and, refuses from fear of my blood pressure, to bring it up
Did I ever call them back - Never - because I do not want these people back in my house.  I don't want to talk with them either. I'm retired and I don't have another four hundred dollars to throw away.  Especially  because,  before I hired them I had a quote to put a  skin over the entire master bathroom for five hundred.

"Excellent work that even exceeded my expectations. His paint job on my house was perfect. No flaws at all. Very fair pricing. He even did repairs on wood rot that was found and went above and beyond to let me know every step of the way. I will definitely use him again. In fact, I already informed him I want my new deck stained in the spring. Also, very friendly and honest young man. Would recommend him to anyone."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Various kinds of substances and deck preservatives act as protective coatings for wood to prevent rot, which is caused by water getting into the wood and creating cracks and splits. Stains, paints, and sealants are the three best options to protect your wood, but there are also oils, varnishes, and waxes available. You’ll need to reapply sealant at least once per year, and you should inspect your wood deck regularly to look for signs of damage or general wear and tear.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.

A concrete overlay is often the most cost-effective way to resurface a pool deck. To do this, you’ll need to pour a thin layer of concrete over the existing pool deck, which you can customize by stamping or painting. A stamped concrete overlay provides additional traction on a pool deck that can help minimize the risk of people slipping and falling.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

For homes in areas with extreme weather, high heat, or intense sun exposure, high-quality acrylic paint is the best option. Acrylic paint is durable, resistant to both heat and cold, and provides a protective barrier with excellent UV resistance. For best results, look for acrylics that contain natural earth pigments, which are better suited for resisting sun damage. While oil-based paint is also durable, it can be prone to fading in high heat and can become too viscous to apply easily in cold temperatures. Additionally, choosing a neutral or light color like gray, beige, or white can help, as these colors absorb less heat than darker shades.
