"Mr. Rooter called me right away - literally moments after I posted my project on Angi. The technician came out about an hour and a half later and had fixed two toilets - one had gotten clogged and the other wasn't flushing right - in about 15-20 minutes. The tech also made a small repair at no extra charge to make sure one of my supply lines to the back of the toilet didn't leak. I didn't do exact price comparisons with other companies but the morning of house call + the auger for the clogged toilet + the small build repair to the second toilet came out to about $450. There may be folks who could have done it cheaper but we have company coming over this weekend and I wasn't about to not have either of my toilets in good working order. A thorough and professional job done at lightning speed was worth the rate."

"I hired David for a couple of jobs the main one was clearing a blockage or drain, but I also while he was here I had him look at 3 toilets for me because I thought that they needed to be replaced but after David looking at them he told me he could save me a great deal of money, apparently I only needed one replaced and he was able to just do some simple fixes on the other two. I greatly appreciated David being up front and honest with me because I really didn't have the money for all that work. It was easy to book an appointment with David, she was able to meet my schedule and he was prompt on time for the appointment. I wouldn't highly recommend David for any of your plumbing needs!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Yes, a toilet, sink, and shower can share the same vent. This is a common installation method that can simplify plumbing and save space. However, there are important considerations. The vent and associated plumbing must be large enough to handle the demands of all fixtures without compromising the vent's effectiveness. Additionally, the toilet should always be located downstream of all other fixtures. Because requirements can vary and space might be limited, it is essential to check your local building and plumbing codes and consult with a qualified plumber to ensure the installation is done correctly.

There are several ways to save money on a bathroom remodel through proper planning and savvy design strategies. To reduce costs, consider the following:

  • Purchase your own materials: Buy your own bathroom fixtures, hardware, and other materials to avoid contractor upcharges and delivery fees.

  • Shop smart for big-ticket items: Save on pricey items like tiles and tubs by shopping sales and at discount stores.

  • Avoid major layout changes: Keep plumbing in its current location. Opt to replace fixtures rather than moving them to avoid significant renovation work.

  • Focus on high-impact, low-cost updates: Make affordable but impactful smaller changes, such as upgrading hardware, installing new lighting, and adding stylish but economical accessories.

  • DIY where possible: Handle easier parts of the remodel yourself, like painting or installing light fixtures, to save on labor costs.

  • Time your remodel strategically: Consider remodeling in the spring, which tends to be a lower-demand time of year and may result in lower costs.

Brown stains in your toilet bowl are most likely limescale. Limescale happens from lime being left behind from hard water evaporating. Once dried out, the minerals also catch dirt and bacteria which eventually accumulate into the brown or blackish stain you see in your toilet. To remove thick and hard limescale from your toilet, use a mixture of vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda, and scrub with a metal scrubbing brush.

Yes, you can clean a toilet tank with white vinegar. Before you do, shut off the water supply to the toilet. Then, flush it to empty the tank. Next, combine one part vinegar with one part water in a spray bottle and spray the mixture inside the tank. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse away the vinegar by pouring clean water into the tank. Make sure the tank is empty, then dip a scrub brush in vinegar and clean the tank’s inside walls. Turn the water back on and flush again to rinse away the vinegar.

Yes, a bathroom remodel is a worthwhile home improvement project that typically adds value to your home, offering a return on investment (ROI) between 60% and 70%. Potential buyers look closely at bathrooms and kitchens, as these are often the most expensive rooms to renovate. A modern, updated bathroom is more appealing and assures buyers that the plumbing, fixtures, and flooring have a long, useful life ahead. Beyond the financial return, a remodel can also greatly increase your day-to-day satisfaction by creating a more inviting, spa-like space. Even a basic refresh with new paint and accessories can make a significant difference.
