"They arrived to do a quote on the day I called. Reasonable amount with a senior & military discount! We approved the quote & it was finished the next week. Great bunch of workers. They did the job right & cleaned up everything as they went along. Very Satisfied. The icing on the cake was 2 hours after we paid them I noticed an area that was painted instead of covered in siding. I called & was assured they’d be out the next work day to do it. I was expecting less & ended up getting the most. Great people to work with."

"

I had tile flooring installed last year in my kitchen and noticed how the grout was cracking throughout the kitchen. I called South Gate Home Improvements for an estimate to replace the tile. With a very reasonable estimate I had them to install the new tile.

Prior to him installing my new tile he showed me how the previous contractor did not screw down the backer board but used roofing nails instead which was the reason for my grout cracking. He spent the time correcting the deficiency and installed the new tile. The design I chose called for some precise cuts with the tile. Mr. Perabeau took his time and now I have beautiful solid tile flooring. I highly recommend him for all your remodeling needs."

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

If improperly installed, an egress window can compromise your foundation’s structural integrity, so it’s important to work with a pro to ensure your foundation remains in good shape. Any money you may save on a DIY egress window installation may cost you in the long run if your foundation is damaged in the process.

A good U-factor for windows is 0.30 or lower, but they can range from 0.20 to 1.20. A general rule of thumb when it comes to the U-factor is that the lower, the better.

Depending on size, material, and labor, two windows can cost between $600 and $1,600.

Installing a window well costs anywhere from $500 to $1,500 or more. Adding an egress window and well runs about $3,900 on average. Adding a window well cover to the project can add $200 to $700. A well cover helps protect your egress windows from weather damage and keeps them clear of dirt, debris, and wildlife.

An egress window is similar to a regular window. However, this type of window opens fully to allow people to escape the home or rescue personnel to enter the home if an emergency occurs. Egress windows are required in all finished basements before they can be considered a living space.
