"The Radon Guys saved the day and the sale of my house! The existing mitigation system (from another company) was installed incorrectly which was discovered during a home inspection and testing. From re-testing, to diagnostics, to repairs and post testing, the Radon Guys were a pleasure to work with. Devin , Nick, and Chris are knowledgeable, professional, and understood the urgency with a very tight deadline to close. The repairs were completed with minimal disruption or cosmetic surface damage and I was kept informed of every step. The area was cleaned after the work was completed. As we had already vacated the home, I was immediately notified of the passing score and the report was received shortly after. The closing was able to proceed without delays. If you need radon testing or mitigation, save yourself the headaches and just use The Radon Guys. You won't be sorry!"

"Brett was a great inspector. He explained the process at each step, what he was looking for and his thoughts on the condition of each step. It was great working with them. If I need to hire a home inspector in the future I will be coming back to Real Estate Inspection Services."

"Radon 1 did a great job. We wanted to have our existing radon mitigation system removed as it was right by our new screened in porch and have a new one installed in different location in our home. The crew removed the old system and installed the new system in an area far from our screened in porch. The installation was done in an expert manner, the crew were respectful of our property, quiet, clean, wore masks and cleaned up after themselves so you would never know they'd been there, all in less than a day. The pricing was competitive, we feel like we got a fair price. I would hire Radon 1 again."

"Mr. Coffee is a hero who risks his health daily to help mitigate dangerous radon problems for strangers who call for help. This is a dangerous job with daily high radon exposure and when I asked, he said he is aware of the risks but gets his health scanned multiple times a year. I called Covenant Air back in December after noticing that my Safety Siren Pro radon detector kept reaching alarm. Mr. Coffee came out and assessed that I could probably fix the problem myself by sealing some obvious cracks, especially around some pipes, and recommended the products so that I can do it cheap DIY. He was obviously not pushy to scare people into signing contracts, but actually tried to dissuade me from hiring him right off on installing sub slab depressurization. Although the DYI route he recommended would've been cheaper, I hired him to performs the job. The sealing did bring the radon level down where my detector's alarm didn't go off, but I wanted to lower it as much as possible. He then recommended a passive ventilation route given my reading. The passive ventilation again slashed the radon level in half, but I wanted the radon level down even further, so I ultimately opted to install the fan after weeks of data collection and analysis. He installed the fan so that I could easily turn it off to save energy based on seasonal variations. He is a very personable and methodical person, and prefers to monitor the progress of his work so that his customers don't hastily incur unnecessary cost. You almost never see someone like that in the service industry, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Options include sub-slab depressurization, crawlspace ventilation, and sealing cracks. Choose based on home construction and radon levels.

Radon is present almost everywhere but, like sunlight, the concentration levels and how often you are exposed to it have a large part to play in just how dangerous it is. There are levels of radon that are acceptable inside a house, but above a certain limit, radon becomes a serious radioactive hazard that is a known cause of lung cancer. In fact, radon exposure is the number two leading cause of lung cancer (after smoking).

If your home has a sump pit, you can integrate it with a radon mitigation system. You can accomplish this by sealing the pump cover with an airtight lid that accommodates radon vent pipes and sump pump hoses. This allows the vent pipe to redirect the radon gas outside of your home.

Radon detection is crucial as prolonged exposure to radon gas, a leading cause of lung cancer, poses significant health risks in residential environments.

The lifespan of a radon mitigation system depends on the type of system and its maintenance. With proper care, a system can last for many decades. Passive systems tend to last longer as they have fewer components that require replacement. Active systems, which have more moving parts like fans, generally have a shorter lifespan. For instance, water filtration devices and active pressurization systems require more frequent maintenance. While the system as a whole is durable, the radon fan in an active system typically has a lifespan of 5 to 10 years and will need to be replaced. As long as the fan is working, the mitigation system should function correctly.
