"Clyde I did a wonderful job fixing my front storm door. A previous person could not get the door to lock and Clyde fixed it. He arrived right when he said he would and made me show him that I could lock the door myself. He also checked that the key worked before he left. I would strongly recommend Clyde Miller."

"Walter and Glen at Protect Your Home Group with ADT are the best people to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

"The manager of the grocery store recommended her to call John and his company.  Boy was she glad she did!
John told her  he would be there in about 25 minutes. He was there in 22 minutes and in about 30 seconds he had her car unlocked. No damage to window, the rubber seal, or the lock. He was a lifesaver for her and the groceries!
She said he was very calm and professional. He was also extremely reasonable!  He only charged her $50 when he could have charged way more for someone in that kind of situation. She was very impressed and I am too. We highly recommend him.

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should change the locks as soon as you can after completing the purchase of a house. This is a matter of privacy and security, as you have no idea how many copies of the keys the previous owner made. You can change the locks yourself or hire a pro to replace or rekey the lock, which costs $50 to $100.

Over time, latch components may wear out or get grimy, leading to this problem. First, check for dirt, dust, or debris in the latch mechanism to ensure smooth operation. Use an aerosol duster and lubricant to clean and loosen. You may also need to tighten the screws in the component, adjust the strike plate, or replace the lock. If none of these steps resolve the problem, consult a professional locksmith.

Most door knobs can be removed with a Phillips or flathead screwdriver. If you don’t have either of those available, a paper clip or small pin can sometimes work, but the extra effort may not be worth a quick trip to the hardware store.

It is best to use a dry lubricant, such as a Teflon-based option, for door locks. Unlike popular oil-based lubricants, dry lubricants leave a non-stick, water-repellent coating that does not attract dust, dirt, and other debris. Using an oil-based lubricant can cause these particles to build up inside the lock, making it difficult to operate or even damaging the internal mechanism. You can find dry lubricants, some of which are made specifically for locks, at most hardware stores.

Yes, most pros encourage you to change your locks when you move into a new home. While the previous owner may hand you their keys, you have no way of knowing whether other copies exist elsewhere. Changing your locks as soon as you move in is a great way to ensure that you can enjoy new, fully functioning locks that will work with your unique key or code.
