The dinimg rom, repaired some holes in the wall and I would upload photos but you would just be looking at a perfectly painted patxh of grey wall?. nonetheless I hands down recommend them to anyone ss they saved me a lot of time and money Top Notch customer service and the professionalism was unmatched thank you guys for all the hard work! "We’ve had several small jobs done by Mr Dowdy. He’s replaced light fixtures with new LED fixtures, replaced a bath faucet, and replaced a gas valve on our HVAC unit. He’s also installed new closet system for us in a bedroom. He’s professional, efficient, and does great work! We’ll definitely call him again when a need arises."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Whether you can install or repair plaster yourself depends on the project's size and your comfort level with DIY projects. It's possible to handle small repairs on your own, but for larger projects like a room restoration or a full installation, it's often best to hire a local plaster professional. The final appearance, even coverage, and durability of the plaster depend heavily on proper wall preparation and application. If you are not 100% confident in your ability to achieve a professional result, letting an expert handle the job is a worthwhile investment.

You can put certain types of plaster over other types, but doing so isn't always the best idea. For example, putting a coat of gypsum over lime plaster is possible, but doing so will limit the lime plaster's breathability and potentially affect its performance.

Since cement plaster tends to leave a textured surface, no matter how much you smooth it, some people prefer to use gypsum plaster as a topcoat over cement plaster, creating a smoother surface.

Regular inspections and cleaning to prevent moisture or pest issues.

The cost to repair a ceiling after a water leak can vary, with averages ranging from $419 to $1,359, or $45 to $55 per square foot. Smaller patches may cost around $150. The final price depends on the size of the affected area and the extent of the damage. Remember that you will also need to repair the source of the leak, such as roof damage or a plumbing issue, which can cost an additional $200 to $1,550. Depending on the situation, you might also face costs for repainting or repairing floors. For an accurate estimate, it is best to get a quote from a professional.

Yes, you can install drywall over plaster, but there are important factors to consider. While it can create a smooth, flat surface, it is often not the best approach. Installing drywall over plaster will increase the wall's thickness, which can cause issues with existing window and door frames that may no longer fit. You might also need to adjust power outlets to keep them accessible. A better, though more expensive, option is to remove the old plaster and lath entirely before installing new drywall. Drywalling directly over plaster seals in the old material, and if any problems arise later, you will need to remove both layers down to the structural beams for repairs. Given the potential complications, this job is best handled by professionals.
