"Midwestern Mechanical did an outstanding job. Trigg especially. He was professional, knowledgeable and honest. Where competitors pushed and used scare tactics on seniors to totally replace the whole heating and A/C unit instead of replacing a fan, housing motor.. competitor said they couldnt find the parts. That it could take 3 months to get Saying this during 90 degree weather. Midwestern Mechanical came in instantly found the problem, got the parts needed, and had it fixed . In four hours they had our A/C working like a charm. It cost us 900.00 compared to close to 10,000.00. Midwestern Mechanical has a loyal customer from here on in. I’ve been singing their praises ever since to all that will listen. It’s nice to know that There are still honest and hardworking people out there. Not trying to take advantage of seniors . Thank you Trigg Laplante and Midwestern Mechanical Slick and Ann Smith.. Rapid City, SD "

Gas Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

If your home uses more than one gas appliance, you'll continue to use gas, even outside of the heating season. Your water heater, gas stove and oven, and gas dryer will all use some gas, although typically much less than a furnace. Additionally, those appliances may also have a pilot light that is lit continually, using a small amount even when no one is at home.

Sometimes. While many traditional homes use copper, galvanized steel, PVC, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and PEX, mobile homes will typically use PVC, CPVC, or PEX. These materials are more flexible, easier to work with, and handle colder temperatures.

The right way to vent a gas water heater is to have a pipe directly upward or slopes upward out of the house. Because hot air naturally rises, this type of venting will efficiently ensure that all gas moves out of the house. Your system may rely on fans or blowers as well.

Common signs of gas line leaks include a rotten egg smell, hissing sounds, dead plants around the area of the leak, and unexplained physical symptoms like dizziness and nausea. If you notice any of these signs, act immediately. Shut off the gas supply to your home and call a pro to assess the situation.

The cost to install a gas line is $540 on average, but most spend between $260 and $820. In extreme cases, your total cost could reach $1,350.

Factors that influence the cost of a new gas line installation include your geographic location, materials, and labor. Gas line installation costs are higher in urban versus rural areas due to the drilling technique required to get under road structures.
