Customers say: Quick response

"When I lived in Vermillion SD, John did all of my remodeling projects from 1994-2016. These included totally gutting and finishing my kitchen; finishing a basement to include a den, bedroom, bath, and laundry room; and replacing the exterior siding and trim on my 1974 house. He is an amazing carpenter/craftsman. He is easy to work with and comes up with creative solutions to problems. He comes at a moment when notice when emergencies arise and his rate is extremely reasonable. I highly recommend John for any addition or remodeling project."

"Marvin is a dedicated, hard working professional. I valued his knowledge and skill on our deck build project. He went out of his way to listen and answer any questions we had along the way. He was up front on added costs based on the quality of product that I requested to be used. He and his emplyee have been eorking full days. I am sure this will continue and the project will be completed with our 100% satisfaction. I highly recommend Marvin and his company.. Thanks Marvin!"

"I had Paul reset my basketball hoop after it was blown down. He stopped by and gave me a quote on Thursday, set the pole on Saturday and installed the backboard on Wednesday. He was reasonably priced and very easy to work with."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

It's not ideal, and if your pool’s pH is seriously low (below 7), swimming can be dangerous until you raise it, potentially causing severe irritation and damage to the skin and eyes.

Keep in mind that low pH can also be responsible for damaging the pool itself. Acidic water can contribute to the cracking of your pool's liner, which may cost up to $2,500 to replace, making this an expensive fix.

The best way to dissolve algae is to use pool shock. The shock increases the free chlorine levels in your pool, which in turn kills bacteria, microorganisms, and algae. You can opt for granulated shock that you mix with water or a premixed liquid shock.

Keep in mind that using pool shock is just one of the steps you need to take to get rid of algae from your pool. Unless you also brush, vacuum, and clean the filter, your algae problem may return.

Rectangular pools, particularly those made of vinyl or fiberglass, are the easiest to maintain. The long, straight sides, right angles, and smoother surface make regular cleaning a breeze without having to maneuver into curves and nooks. Rectangular pools also tend to be standard sizes, so you may have an easier time when it comes time to replace liners, covers, and other parts.

Any number between 7.2 and 7.8 is an ideal pH for swimming pools or 80 to 120 ppm. Your pool testing kit should be able to measure both of these numbers. If your pool’s pH is below this range, the water is too acidic and can cause scaling and damage to pool equipment. If the water’s pH is above this range, it can decrease the effectiveness of necessary chemicals, like chlorine.

No, shock and chlorine are not the same thing, though they are related and both are used for pool maintenance. Regular chlorine, often in the form of tablets, is a sanitizer used for routine, day-to-day maintenance to keep a steady chlorine level. Pool shock, however, is a highly concentrated dose of chlorine used periodically for a more intense cleaning. It rapidly raises chlorine levels to fix issues like cloudy water or algae growth and also eliminates chloramines, which are byproducts of regular chlorination. Because their purposes and concentrations differ, they are not interchangeable, and proper pool care typically requires using both.
