"Eva and Rocky Strader did a really nice job landscaping three sides of our home. The shrubs, plants, trees, landscaping rocks and borders were done very professionally and look very nice. I would recommend them and will use them again in the future. Thanks for upgrading our property."

"I hired this company to mow my lawn. I had just moved here and found it very difficult to find a company that would mow my lawn for a reasonable price in a timely manner. Jesse and Kenny were responsive, fit me into their schedule very quickly, arrived on time, did a great job and were extremely professional and very pleasant. I will be using them on a regular basis going forward. I know that they do offer other services in addition to lawn mowing, so if you’re looking for the full package fertilizer, pest control, landscaping, they have expertise in these areas as well. I highly recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

We are a small family business. I started this back in March of 2024 so that my son, Dad and I can spend time together enjoying what we like doing, Spending time together in the outdoors. We do forestry mulching, lot clearing, dirt work, demolition, driveways, pond bank clearing, debris hauling and more. We currently have 2 skid steers with attachments, a mid size excavator with attachments, tractors and dump trailers. We are licensed and insured. We take pride in our work and seeing our customers happy when their dreams and visions are coming together. We want that lasting relationships and repeat clients. So let H&T Land and Lawn become part of your family.

My names Cayden Shadoan, I’m 23 years old. I have a beautiful wife and daughter. I have a full time job as a pipe welder in Sumter South Carolina. I’m on here just looking to pick up a couple extra jobs here and there in hopes of starting my own business one day to be able to stay home with my family more. I can do pretty much anything that needs done in or around your house. Specializing in building fences or repairing fences, any kind of piping jobs, or any welding. Thank you for considering me to help you get what you need done. Hope to see you soon.

"Mark did a remarkable job today! He was so kind and patient throughout the whole process! My mom’s cat got stuck up a tree and he was able to rescue her! He was such a joy to deal with and we will definitely reach out to him again for any tree, or landscaping jobs we may have!!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

If you’re wondering whether you can plant a tree where the stump was removed, know that the soil conditions won’t be ideal, so you should avoid it. The soil beneath the previous tree will likely be depleted of nutrients, plus there may be roots left behind that will seriously hinder the growth of a new tree. Also, if you use salt or other chemical solutions to kill the stump, these can linger in the soil for months or even years and prevent healthy growth. It’s best to choose a different spot that’s at least three feet away for a new tree, or wait at least a year and thoroughly amend the soil before you plant.

While it’s best to have access to large, healthy, strong trees in a safe position, treehouse living is still possible without them. Contractors can fit tree posts to build the structure onto or use posts as additional support alongside the trees themselves. If you’re in doubt about the suitability of the trees on your land, consult with a local treehouse builder before you start the project.

Coverage varies quite a bit by policy, but most homeowners' insurance policies will cover $500 to $1,000 of the cost of removing a tree. Additionally, if your tree causes damage to your property, like your house, many policies will cover some or all of the costs to repair the damage, depending on why the tree fell.

Unfortunately, most of the time you’re out of luck if a neighbor’s tree blocks your view. You don’t have a right to a view, so if you have a tree that’s near the property line but on your neighbor’s property, you can’t cut it to be able to take in a majestic mountain or a beautiful sunrise. In some communities, however, there are ordinances protecting scenic views. Checking into your local laws can help you determine your rights in this situation.

In general, trees should be planted no closer than 15 to 20 feet from your foundation. For larger trees with far-reaching roots like maples, oaks, or poplars, a good guide is to plant as many feet from your home as the tree’s height is expected to reach at maturity. Some trees, like elms and willows, should only be planted far from where their roots may encounter sewer or water lines.
