"I hired Rocky Flooring because my carpets literally had some rough edges (due to foot traffic, wheelchair traffic, and three active dogs) at all of the transitions to hard flooring. They did excellent work! The two men showed up on time and got right to work. They were able to stretch the existing carpet and then reattach it to the original transition strips. Things look as good as new! I recommend Rocky Flooring to anyone who needs carpet repair work done."

"Mr. Young is great!! He came and gave me a quote quickly, and it was a lot lower than I was expecting. He did the work, even working on a weekend to complete it because of rain during the week. He sent me a picture after he was done, and it was almost dark, so I know he also worked late. I will definitely hire him again when I need more work done. He was a pleasure to work with!!"

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

You’ll know if your carpet is stretched enough if it lies completely flat and smooth across your floor. If you have ripples, wrinkled areas, or carpet piling up along the baseboards, these are telltale signs that your carpet is not fully stretched. Release the carpet from the tack strip along one wall and use a stretcher or knee kicker to stretch out the carpet before securing it again.

There are many types of carpet repairs that you might experience in your home, depending on the activity level in your home. Snags and tears are relatively common, especially if you have pets or tend to move furniture around often. Some other carpet repairs you might need include:

  • Burn damage

  • Water damage

  • Pet damage

  • Loose carpet

  • Severe stains

In addition to having your carpets professionally cleaned, most carpet cleaners offer a range of supplemental services and treatments, including:

  • Patching and repairing holes: $100–$250 per hole

  • Carpet stretching to remove wrinkles: $60 per hour

  • Water extraction: $450–$2,000, depending on square footage

  • Pet stain and odor removal: $30–$50 per hour

  • Furniture and upholstery cleaning: $50–$80 per item

  • Furniture moving and removal: $10–$50 per item

  • Padding replacement: $4–$7 per square foot

  • Teflon treatment: $20–$40 per project

  • Environmentally friendly carpet cleaning: $100–$200 per room

You can use a carpet patch to replace a single section of carpet. You’ll cut out the damaged section and then replace it with a caret patch. The patch should be the same color as the existing carpet. You can also hire a professional carpet repair company to get it done.

Yes, you can revive carpet that’s flattened using household items like an ice cube and stiff brush, a damp cloth and an iron, baking soda and vinegar, and shaving cream. If you want to go all-out, visit a local home improvement store and buy a carpet rake, too. Depending on the state of your carpet, you may need to use more than one of these methods to see results. Keep in mind that you might need to repeat a reviving method more than once.
