"Artwork Masonry is a business I’d highly recommend to anyone. We've never worked with more professional people both on the job and in the office. Jason takes his business and profession very seriously. After meeting Jason and understanding what he does and his experience as a Mason, we didn’t need to go for a second bid on our fairly large job of paving our patio, driveway and walkways. His team of workers were outstanding professionals and highly expert in the field of masonry work. We could not be happier with the outcome. They did a FANTASTIC job!!"

"Hired A&R for some light landscaping and mulch work. They scheduled the job quickly, arrived promptly, and got the job done in just a few hours. Mulch beds look good and at a reasonable price. They also cleaned up any messes they made which is a rarity here in Charleston!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Agustin and his team are extremely hard working and did an awesome job. I had two meetings with Agustin prior to the work to fine tune the project details and layout. We then set a date via email and he arrived promptly every day between 7:30-8am and worked all day in the heat. We installed a tabby patio with Savannah Gray brick border and he did a beautiful job with both the layout and the craftsmanship. They even came out on a Saturday to finish the job. Each day they ensured that they cleaned the job site. I was impressed and would certainly recommend."

"Jake, Wil and the whole team are as professional as they come. They have extensive experience on the commercial side, which brings a ton of expertise to the residential. Couldn’t recommend them enough for their professionalism and quality of service. They will show up on time, you will be communicated to, and they’re going to go above and beyond to get the job done."

Patios questions, answered by experts

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.

A sunroom will add more value to your home than a deck, but with a much higher up-front cost. Depending on its construction and function, a sunroom may be counted as additional living space, while a deck is strictly an outdoor feature. Both will increase your home’s value, but the sunroom will have a much bigger effect.

The least expensive way to enclose a porch is with screens. These protect the room by preventing insects from entering and, if you live in a warm climate, provide excellent airflow during hot summer months. Screens cost far less than any other alternative, so if you are against getting permits, spending too much, or enclosing your porch in walls or glass, screens are the best choice.

The average cost to screen-in your patio ranges from $2,000 to $4,000. How much you spend depends on the size of your patio, the materials used, and construction complexity. Some patio screen room kits are easy to DIY, but you may need to hire a local screened-in porch builder and obtain permits for more complex designs.

A well-constructed and well-maintained sunroom can last as long as the rest of your house. If you build the sunroom to the same standards using the same quality materials as the house and perform regular maintenance to ensure the room stays in top condition, it can bring you decades of enjoyment.
