"The process is simple, a local sales rep comes out to your house and gives you a sales pitch and shows a demo. The product is good enough, but be aware of a standard sales pitch (ie used car salesman). This didn't bother me too much, especially if you are used to negotiation or "haggling," however, I could see where this style of sales pitch could turn some people off... if you want a straight-up estimate (I did see this is several reviews about the sales tactics, so I expected this). After negotiating a bit, we arrived at a price, and based on my research the installed product is about 2-3 times more expensive as a professional standard screen gutter guard installation (ie from your local home center), however you must consider the product that is being installed, which in my opinion is superior. When we moved into our home in 2011, the house had NO gutter guards, and I immediately installed a DIY from the local home store (Leaf Defier XL) which is a porous gutter insert. The Leaf Defier product was terrible and completely clogged in large sections after only 2 years of use! The problem was, once the pores become clogged, the product is useless! There is no way to clean this debris out! And, this is especially true if you have pine trees near your house. The DIY install for this only cost me about $500, but if you imagine replacing large clogged sections every two years, this becomes expensive and labor intensive. Therefore, I wanted a low maintenance / high quality solution, and after an extensive search I came across gutter dome. We have already had a really hard steady rain since install, and the gutter guards function very well. The product is made in the USA, which is important to me too! The install took place soon after the price quote, and the crew showed up on time. They did a good job with the install, however, I had only a few small gripes about some other issues. The crew did leave some trash in the yard of the old gutter insert remnants and some metal scrap in the driveway, that I had to walk around and pick up. They also removed a splash guard on the front of the house, and did not replace it. This is the only reason the job was given a B. The gutter product however is working well. Time will tell (as with all gutter products) how well this product will stand the test of time. Maybe I'll review them again in a few years to update how well they function over time. Only other issue is price. This is one of the more expensive options for gutter guards, which is why I graded a C for cost, but I was willing to take the quality over cost, especially after my experience with the cheap alternative! "
"They came out for a very small jog, which I felt was very thoughtful of them. They prompt, professional and "kept their word". After finishing the job, they said if I had further problems to given them a call back and they would wok on the leak, again. They kept their word!!!They repair the leak for the second and hopefully last at no further charge. Good business men. I would highly recommend them to anyone that needs gutter repair or replacement. Good hones people!"
"The work crew was great, the work quality was better than great, Picking Gutter Concepts to replace the gutters on my home, was a great 420 experience."
Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts
When it comes to which gutter material is better, the choice really boils down to what you're looking for in a gutter system. If saving money is the most important factor, then your best option is to go for aluminum gutters. If longevity and durability are more important to you, then copper gutters could be the best fit. If you want to customize the color of your gutters, aluminum takes the cake, but if you're looking for a more natural appearance, copper might be a better choice.
It is possible to repair your own gutters, but we don’t recommend it. First, gutters need to sit at a precise slope to direct water toward the downspouts but also appear level from the yard, and this task is challenging to get right through DIY gutter repair. Second, any mistakes you make could be costly if they cause water damage or foundation damage. It might seem unnecessary to spend $400 on professional gutter repair, but it pales in comparison to what you might pay if you make a mistake doing the work yourself.
When you need to repair your galvanized gutters from leaks and caulk isn’t doing the job, you can solder your gutters with a roofer’s soldering iron. First, you’ll need to clean your gutters thoroughly with a wire brush and remove rust and oxidized paint. Next, you’ll make weld points on the gutter and solder over the connection until it’s completely smooth. You can also hire a roofing company near you to tackle this project.
Buried downspouts can freeze during cold weather as cold water runs through them. If you’ve discovered your downspouts are frozen, you can carefully pour hot water down the top of the downspout to defrost them. If that doesn’t work, you may need to dig your downspout back up. Avoid trying to break the ice from the exterior using a hammer as this can cause cracks and damage to your downspout.
To avoid freezing the future, consider adding a heating cable to the exterior, which can adjust heat based on the surrounding temperature.
Yes, many homeowners find that seamless gutters are worth the investment. Although they have a higher upfront cost than standard gutters—an average of $2,700 compared to $2,000—their benefits often outweigh the price difference. Seamless gutters last longer, require less maintenance, and are less prone to clogs and leaks due to having fewer seams. In contrast, standard gutters typically have seams every 10 feet, which can leak and require new sealant every one to five years. Additionally, seamless gutters are considered more aesthetically pleasing, come in a variety of colors to match your home, and can improve your home's curb appeal and potential value.
