I owned a bath and kitchen remodeling business specializing in granite countertops until the recession in 2008. I then changed careers and moved into aerospace manufacturing. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that affects my kidneys and was unable to work for 2 years. I am now able to work and I’ve decided to stop waisting life behind a desk. I’ve been doing odd jobs and some specialized woodworking for the past few months and it’s been awesome. I set my own schedule. I get to go out and meet people and create things with my hands. I don’t have a boss down my back. The customer is the only person I have to satisfy. Life is really good.

I offer professional and timely handyman services. My previous experience has come from buying and flipping homes in the Columbia area. Most of the homes I have redone have needed major repairs and renovations so providing basic handyman services is in my wheelhouse. I offer painting, drywall repair, flooring repairs, lawn/landscaping and many other services. Please contact me and I know you will not be disappointed.

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

If you have a smooth, already bonded concrete surface, painting a concrete pool deck can be a great way to brighten up the area and add longevity. If the surface has another covering or a different type of paint has been used previously, you won’t be able to paint it without removing the existing coating. Wooden decks benefit from painting as it helps to keep them watertight. Quality pool deck paints also help make the surface less slippery and less likely to gather mold and mildew or prematurely crack.

The most expensive part of building a pool is typically the excavation and labor, which can account for 25% to 50% of the total project cost. This is particularly true for inground pools that require significant excavation, potentially including the rental of large equipment, and extensive construction labor. In contrast, above-ground pools are generally less expensive as they typically do not require excavation and can be installed much more quickly. Concrete in-ground pools are among the most labor-intensive options.

Generally, you do not need to drain your pool to convert it to a saltwater system. The main exception is if you have used an antibacterial agent containing polyhexamethylene biguanide to sanitize your pool, as these sanitation products do not mix well with saltwater systems. If this is the case, you will need to start fresh. You can either drain the pool or treat the existing water with a high dose of chlorine to remove the antibacterial agent. If you choose the chlorine treatment, wait several days to allow the chlorine to work before proceeding with the conversion. If you are unsure whether this applies to your pool, consult a pool technician.

Baking soda can help to clear your cloudy pool water if the alkalinity or pH is too low. Adding baking soda to your pool will increase the alkalinity and help bring your pH levels to a more comfortable range. Be sure to test the water as you add baking soda.
