Customers say: Quality work

"From the first call I made I was so impressed. Mr. Craig continually kept me informed as to the day when they would come - when a previous job ran longer than they planned he called to keep me posted and let me know he would be there a day later - then called the night before to confirm again and arrived at the time promised. They did an excellent job - other than missing a very large dead tree on my front yard, you would never know they had been there as every bit of the tree, branches, etc. was removed. He also is an arborist so was able to answer my questions and give me advice about a replacement tree. Can't recommend him highly enough"

"Excellent service. My backyard was badly overgrown. Ruben and his crew cleaned it, took away old fence panels, and even mowed the front yard. Excellent work. Highly recommend"

"Such a great and professional guy. He did lots of work for me and even cleaned up after himself. He took down 7 trees from around my house and cleared and graded an acre and a half. Highly recommend this guy !"

"They contacted me and arrived 2 days earlier than originally planned- which was great. The full crew went about their tasks like a well organized group. They had obviously been working together awhile. The stump was left below grade, as agreed. ALL DEBRIS was removed, and my yard raked back to what it looked like before their arrival. I would definitely hire them again, and can highly recommend them. Stanley is the person I worked with the most on this project. The price was very fair, and I will not disclose what I paid, since so much has changed in the world now, and I do not want to ***** your choice - should you be quoted more than I was a year ago. I was reviewing my notes from 2020, and noticed 2 companies I had not done a review for, this being one. That is why this is late. My dog is, coincidentally, standing where the tree was."

"Great job on the removal of three trees in our yard. David was a great person to work with. I will use Deep South Landsaping again on other projects. I would highly recomend him for any landscaping/tree removal jobs."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You may be looking to identify maple trees to use for home improvement projects. In that case, you can tell hard maples by looking at their leaves. Leaves will have a U-shaped dip, or sinus, between the points, or lobes, of the leaves. Leaves of soft maples tend to have V-shaped sinuses.

If you already have the cut wood in front of you, look for a light, uniform color to identify hard maple wood and check for variations of red, gray, or brown streaks and an overall darker color in soft maple wood.

Lightning can cause massive damage, fires, and openings for other threats like bugs or fungal diseases. Barring any large fires or explosions, it’s difficult to tell how much damage a lightning strike has done until after a thorough inspection. Contact local authorities immediately if lightning strikes a tree in your yard and it causes a fire or explosion.

Not every arborist climbs trees, but most will do so if that’s the best method for assessing or treating a tree. Arborists have a variety of tree climbing gear and safety equipment to choose from when climbing trees. Consult your local arborist about their tree-climbing plan if your service requires that type of task.

The exact answer to this question depends on which region of the country you’re talking about, but according to various tree counts, some of the most common types of trees in the United States include red maple, Douglas fir, quaking aspen, loblolly pine, and sweetgum.

While the trees in your backyard are good for the environment and look beautiful, they could present a danger to your home under the wrong circumstances. This task is typically beyond the capabilities of the average homeowner due to its dangerous nature, so it’s best to leave this task to a professional. In some cities, it’s even illegal to remove a tree yourself.
