"Ronnie was very professional, easy to work with, and the job was priced fairly. However, his crew removed screening in the soffits which we had installed to keep red squirrels out. They did not put it back so we had to pay someone to redo the job. They painted the deck the day after it rained. Less than a year later it is peeling. Also, the deck stain did not hold well and in some places is down to bare wood. I have contacted Ronnie three times and not heard back."

"Jimmy Zeski, the Owner provided us with a complete, itemized schedule and price of work to Pressure Wash our 2,000 SF Log Home, to caulk and completely stain the house with Honey colored stain and caulk that we, the homeowners, purchased from Southland Log Homes, Irmo, SC. To say that the workers from FreshCoat of Charleston, SC were professional paint/stain personnel would be a complete understatement of their work and dedication to providing an absolutely top-of-the-line new finish and appearance to our log home! The two workmen, who were assigned to our job, Edwin and Armando worked in extremely hot and humid conditions for almost five complete days. (They had the added problem of having to work around an extended period of time to allow the house to dry three days after pressure washing, and then had to have three days of dry weather after caulking and staining were performed). These two men at all times provided extremely professional work, cleaning up and policing up the area each and every day. To say they went above and beyond the scope of work would be doing an injustice to their professionalism. The Owner, Jimmy, stopped by several times checking on the progress of the work, and my wife and I feel that he was extremely satisfied with the work and progress of the job. My wife and I would re-hire this group for any future jobs and we actually questioned them concerning performing future work on our home in the following four or five years. You can not go wrong hiring FreshCoat to perform your paint/staining jobs!
"First they videoed our roof. Showed where problems existed and explained how the would enhance or rain run off. When the began work they made sure our shrubs and decks were protected. The crew worked hard and efficient. My entire roof was striped and prepared for the new shingles in one day. They cleaned up at the end of each day and remove trash each day with a portable trash trailer."

We recently purchased a 2nd home on Lake James with an exterior that is 100% cedar. The exterior was in serious need of cleaning and re-staining. It had not been maintained; and, had a significant amount of mold staining and several areas of the trim had the original finish peeling off.
We contracted with Mike and Crystal to prep and re-stain the exterior of our home. Throughout the process, Mike demonstrated thoroughness, competency and responsibility. Mike and Crystal took personal responsibility to ensure they delivered a quality product. Mike kept his commitments and did not compromise his work product even when faced with the stripping process taking more time than he expected. He completed the project per the schedule he committed.
Mike demonstrated a high attention to detail in the finishing process and ensured the project was completed to my satisfaction. The home looks beautiful...we could not be happier.
I solicited bids from several paint contractors and evaluated several before selecting Mike. His pricing was very competitive versus several other contractors; but, I never observed where Mike cut corners.
I would definitely recommend MIke's Painting and will plan to use Mike again when we have painting needs.

The staining or painting process involves cleaning the deck, sanding surfaces, applying a primer (if needed), and carefully applying stain or paint for an even, lasting finish.
A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.
You should seal your deck every one to two years, but you’ll also need to clean and repair your wood deck throughout the seasons. You may want to hire a local house cleaning service to sweep and clean the deck thoroughly. These cleaning services cost around $50 per hour.
Inspect your deck at least once a year, and if you notice any damage or rot, expect to spend about $10 to $50 for simple DIY fixes or about $2,000 for professional repairs on more extensive damage.
Yes, professionals offer slip-resistant options for added workplace safety.
The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.
