"Mr. Johnson did a wonderful job. I had a previous contractor tear out a leaky shower only to replace it with a leakier shower. We opted to start fresh. Mr. Johnson tore out the shower with minimal mess, rebuilt a much nicer shower and improved the layout, and kept the dimensions so we could reuse the custom ordered glass we already had. We also needed work to repair a water damaged support beam in the crawl space under the house. It required the floor to be opened, but Mr. Johnson was able to make the repair quickly and have a new floor laid in no time. He repaired drywall as well as ceiling damage, and everything looks as good as new."

Like many common door problems, warping can be caused by improper installation. When a door isn't installed correctly, there's a good chance that the poor seal is allowing moisture and drafts to seep through. When this happens, humidity will build up in the wood until it swells and warps.

A door jamb is one component of a door frame. Door frames usually comprise three door jambs, including two side jambs, aka vertical planks, and one head jamb that sits along the top of the frame horizontally. 

A door swells up when there’s a lot of moisture in the air. Wood doors are porous, and the elements can cause them to expand with humidity and contract with dry air. Prevent swelling by coating the door in weather-resistant paint, which creates a barrier to seal out moisture. Otherwise, go with a water-repellent finish after the fact. On the plus side, this problem will go away once the weather changes.

Start by checking the top or side edge of the door. Look for a certification label or metal tag stamped with details like the fire rating and information on the manufacturer. Even if it’s painted over, the tag should still be visible. Next, look along the edges for slim intumescent strips. They’re designed to swell up and seal gaps when exposed to heat. Finally, check if the door closes itself. Most fire doors have a self-closing mechanism, like an overhead closer or spring hinges. If none of these are obvious, contact a fire safety professional to help verify your door. 

A door frame is typically 2 to 2.5 inches wider than the door. This additional space accommodates the door jamb and hinges and allows for necessary installation adjustments. For example, if the door is 30 inches wide, the rough opening should be 32 to 32.5 inches wide to ensure a proper fit and smooth operation.
