"There are a couple of ways to get this faucet that we needed to remove. This man did things right, all five pieces of tile removed stayed intact, he was very astute about getting the old minerals off, was very through with the assembly of the faucet (trying to keep it low) and finally he assembled the rest of it so it could be done all at once. I would highly recommend Steve. He’s a keeper."

"Jonathan with Alvis Renovations did an excellent job installing the bead board ceiling on our outdoor patio. He was on time, thorough, and extremely professional and respectful from start to finish. The work turned out beautifully, the price was very fair, and he cleaned up everything when he was done. We are thrilled with the results and would highly recommend Jonathan and Alvis Renovations to anyone looking for quality work."

"Joel and assistant called ahead, were prompt, assessed the project, went to Lowes's to buy the hinges needed, and skilled in replacing the old hinges no longer worked. I highly recommend Carpentry by Joel for your project. James Island."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

When designing your dream pool, it's important to leave enough room for safe walkways, patios, and extras such as outdoor kitchens and fire pits. Your local building codes may specify the minimum space between your pool and your house, utility lines, and property line. In most cases, the area of the patio around the pool should be equal to or greater than the surface area of the pool.

It is generally not recommended to place a pool directly on grass. Doing so will kill the grass underneath, and the surrounding lawn may also be damaged by heavy foot traffic and splashes of chemically-treated water. For best results, create a clean, level surface by removing the grass and debris. You can then install a sturdier base using materials like sand, a concrete pad, or solid foam.

Water only runs through a pool heater when not in use if the heater doesn’t have a bypass system. A bypass system stops the flow of water through the heater when not in use. If you don’t have one, then yes, water will still run through the pool heater even when not in use. Not having a bypass system may increase the effects of wear and tear on your pool heater or disrupt the water’s chemical balance.

Yes, adding a pool to your property will almost always increase your homeowners insurance premiums. This is because pools are considered hazardous, which increases your home's liability risk. The replacement cost of the pool itself is also factored into your home's rebuilding cost when determining coverage limits. The amount of the increase can vary from as little as $50 to several hundred dollars more per year, depending on your insurance company, location, current coverage, and installed safety features. It is best to contact your insurance agent before installing a pool to get an estimate, understand their specific guidelines, and factor the ongoing cost into your budget.

While you can save some money by digging your own pool, you may end up paying more in construction equipment rental fees in the long run. You could, however, focus your DIY energies on lowering the cost of leveling your lawn for your pool or filling in surrounding landscaping after construction.
