"We had Nick and Isaac perform a dryer vent duct cleaning and inspection of our home’s air ducts for cleanliness. After the inspection was done, they recommended a sanitation of the ducts and their work was extremely professional and quick! They were upfront about pricing and very reasonable. We cannot thank them enough for the great work they performed."

"I contacted Anthony Salvatore through Angi.com late last night with a project that is somewhat emergent to me. Our dryer vent was 100% blocked. Anthony responded within 5 minutes asking me to call during business hours. The next day I called, scheduled a time to meet at my house, and met him at that time. He was running behind and kept me updated via phone call. He came over provided a fair estimate, performed the work, all after 6 PM, so less than 24 hrs since I got on Angi.com. Now, I can use my dryer again. He removed over 1 cubic foot of wet dryer lint blocking the vent, cleaned it and left us with a working dryer. He cleaned everything and was professional and courteous."

Dryer Vent Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The length of an allowable dryer vent varies based on the local building codes and regulations. Typically, the maximum range is 25 to 35 feet. However, if the vent must have any 90-degree turns, you may see a reduction of five feet from the maximum. Some municipalities may have no specific maximum allowable length as part of the code. Typically, installers will run the vent over the shortest possible distance for safety. The dryer vent cleaning cost is less with a shorter vent length as well.

Signs include longer drying cycles, a burning smell, excess lint behind the dryer, and the vent hood not opening properly.

A burnt rubber smell coming from your clothes after they’ve been in the dryer can be the result of too much lint in the lint trap. This prevents air from circulating properly, and the lint may even come into contact with the heating element. It could also be the result of bigger issues like a faulty thermostat or worn-out dryer belt. A burnt rubber smell can even come from elastic waistbands or rubber decals in your clothes. To remedy this, dry clothes on a lower heat setting or allow them to air dry instead.

If your dryer is wet inside, it could be due to a poorly designed ventilation system. This happens more frequently during the hotter months as heat is trapped inside the vent duct. Broken or failing seams and seals on the vent pipe can also allow warm air to enter. If changing the ventilation is not an option, consider insulating your vent pipes to reduce moisture capturing.

You will know if your dryer is overheating by placing your hand on top to feel its temperature. If it’s hot to the touch, that’s a clear sign the dryer is overheated. Other signs include your laundry coming out hotter than usual, a burnt smell when it’s running, or burn marks on your laundry.
