"The job went as it should do when you hire a professional contractor. I got MD Masonry's quote within several days of request and the cost was competitive with other quotes received. I had their certificate of Insurance almost instantly and found them to be fully licensed to do the work. The work began on the scheduled day and progressed quickly. Danielle went out of her way to locate a particular and hard-to-find gravel for our planting bed behind the wall. She also suggested and implemented an additional retaining wall around a favorite tree to make use of the few leftover wall blocks and caps that we had supplied. We're looking forward to having MD Masonry back to help us with some brick and sidewalk repairs. The job cost in excess of $10,000. Danielle and her crew delivered above and beyond expectations. You won't go wrong with MD Masonry doing your project."

"It went fantastic. My wife had gone to the hospital for a total left hip replacement. After the operation the surgeon told me there had been some complications and told me I would need hand rails in my garage from the garage floor up 4 steps to the kitchen hallway for her to get in the house after his release of her from the hospital. I did not have hand rails on those steps or the front porch steps either. He told me they would be required because of the serious nature of her conditon. This was her second operation in three and 1/2 weeks. I googled fence contractors in lexington, sc with and 5 fence companies came up. Hendrix Fence company was the first one with a phone number. This was on a Wed and I needed the rails up in 48 hours. I knew it was a very short time frame and went ahead and called Hendrix Fence Co. A very compashinate lady named Jennie Hendrix answered the phone and I told her of my plight and asked if her company could please do me this favor on the short notice. She said she would have her son call me shortly. Her son did call me within 20 minutes from the time I talked to his mother Jennie, said he was close by and would come by within the hour. He did come by and said he could do the job on Friday morning two days later. He had to fabricate and weld some pieces in his shop on Thursday and would be at my house to install the railings Friday at 9:30 am with his brother. They showed up on time Friday and did the install which was stellar in about 2 hours. It was cold and rainy those two days but they did not complain, had excellent attitudes and gave me exactly what I needed for my wife to come to come home that same day by ambulance. After my initial contact Mrs. Jennie Hendrix, Her husband Mr. David Hendrix , Sr. called me to make sure his son had contacted me and said the job would be done right and on time in 48 hours. I have dealt with all kind of contractors all my life but have never, ever dealt with a company like Hendrix Fence Co. in Gaston, SC that serves the Lexington, SC area. I had talked with 5 other companies about my immediate needs for my wife and the all said they could not even come look at the job until January 2, 2019. Waiting till then was "not an option" and Jennie Hendrix said she understood my short term needs and would help me immediately. Hendrix Fence Co., the owners Jennie and David Hendrix and their two sons who did the installation within 48 hours of call for help were the greatest, and most caring people who understood my immediate needs and were willing to go the extra mile on 2 days notice to help me out. They are a family operation who have been in business 30 years and know how to treat a customer right. I cannot say how much their concern and follow-up have helped me and my wife. We are both 76 years old and it's great to know that there some people and companies that still care about their customers and reputation. I would rate them 10+ stars if I could. I recommend them highly to anyone who needs even a small job like mine or any kind of fencing or structures of any type put on there property. I cannot thank them enough. E. "We met Chris quite by accident, but he turned out to be the right person for the job. His prices were affordable and the quality is exactly what I expected. The job was done timely and I would definitely recommend Chris and his crew again. Don't we all need fence work?"

"Dan was very prompt in scheduling the appointment to give an estimate.  He really wanted the work and offered a discount if he could go ahead and get started.  He was very fast.  The only criticism I have is that he didn't sink the fence posts very deep and used a 4x4 post for a gate post so the fence is a little wobbly and the gate already sags a bit.  The biggest issue is that we agreed to a "dog-eared" picket and he set the top rail in line with the top of the pickets rather than a few inches below as most fences are so you cannot see the dog-eared top of the pickets.  I was not able to see the pickets clearly in the pictures he sent (I do not live in the house where he was doing the fence).  When I did see them, the job was finished and I had already paid him.  In fairness, I did not demand that he re do the fence, because there would be no way to do it without taking the fence completely apart.  My issue is that he is the fence guy and I should not have to be the one to also say, "oh, by the way, be sure the dog eared pickets show."

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

While there’s no hard evidence to support this idea, driveway gates at least provide an additional obstacle that may deter crime. After all, a would-be burglar or trespasser would have to break into the gate and the property itself. The extra work could encourage them to move onto a house without a driveway gate.

Whether you can attach a wood extension to a vinyl gate depends on the gate's construction. Some vinyl gates are sturdy enough to allow wood or vinyl boards to be attached. Many, however, have hollow frames that may not hold screws or heavy extensions securely. For these, consider alternative extension options such as a rubber flap or chicken wire.

Depending on your needs and wants, investing in a security door can be well worth the cost. Now that you know the pros and cons, you can decide if it’s a purchase that makes sense for your family. If you’re ready to have one installed in your home, look into security door installers in your area.

Fence gates sag because they have no support on the latch side of the gate to help hold them aloft. A gate wheel fixes that problem by providing support for that latch side. Remember that the ground must be level in front of the gate so the wheel can roll freely when you open and close it. If the terrain is uneven or slopes, a gate wheel won’t work.

Electric gates can be forced open if someone applies enough force to the edge furthest from the mounting bracket. You can reduce this risk by adding an electric lock to your gate opener. However, automatic gate openers generally help deter intruders, especially when paired with outdoor lighting and security cameras. Other home security tips include trimming trees surrounding the area for added visibility and installing motion sensors in your yard.
