"Out of EVERY contractor I have had after building or renovating my personal homes, I HAVE NEVER had a complete satisfaction from start to finish AND YES CALL BACK REPAIRS!! Joel and his VERY PROFESSIONAL TEAM did what they said and UNLIKE most of my experiences, when a call back was needed to remedy a leak through crawl space door access, JOEL AND HIS TEAM not only fixed and redid the mold prevention immediately when notified 7 MONTHS LATER, they at no time worried about their expenses of the fix! If ANYONE IS LOOKING for ENCAPSULATION, or any Mold, water issues or wildlife prevention CALL JOEL AT CAROLINA MOLD SOLUTIONS! He and his team ACTUALLY DO MORE than anyone could expect! It’s like it was in the good old days! I highly recommend JOEL, HE IS THE REAL DEAL!"

"Want to go on record to say that service was excellent from initial contact and a thorough timely evaluation and appraisal with supporting documentation. I found the work to be very professional and was done in an expedient fashion. Company was very transparent in pricing and I found their actual pricepoint to be more than fair for the final rendered report. That said, I would gladly use this company again if I had the need."

"excellent. professional and reasonable. wanted to start with some more inexpensive solutions and move to more expensive solutions. Nice to have someone say, 'this is how I would do it if it were my home. No need to waste money' We were happy. We did have one spot leak after the hurricane came through, and so we will be calling them back...but they fixed everything else."

"Andrew was very thorough and did a great job showing and explaining items that he found. He was also great at suggesting how to fix many of the items on my inspection myself. He really put me at ease that my home is in good condition and will be even better with some small repairs. I can't recommend him enough!"

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Depending on your state, a home inspector may need a license. All states and the District of Columbia require home inspectors to undergo training. However, some states (such as New York, Texas, Washington, and Illinois) require state-issued licenses while others (including California, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Virginia) do not.

Other professional certifications include the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) certification, the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) certification, and the National Home Inspector Examination. Inspectors can also receive certifications in specialized areas. These can include structural specialties, like chimneys, swimming pools, or septic systems, as well as specific issues like mold, pests, or radon gas. Whatever your situation, make sure your home inspector is certified to handle it.

Even if a homebuyer has no intention of using the fireplace installed in the home they’re thinking of buying, it’s vital to know when the fireplace and chimney were last inspected. Aside from learning that it can operate properly, homebuyers will want to know that the structures themselves are sound and won’t affect the integrity of the surrounding home. With full knowledge, homebuyers can then make plans for any necessary repairs before they move in.

To determine if your house has dampers, inspect the ductwork for levers or handles, particularly near the main trunk line of your HVAC unit. Dampers are typically found in homes with ducted heating and cooling systems, but not all houses have them, as some builders may omit them to save on construction costs. If you cannot find any dampers or wish to have them installed, it is best to contact a local HVAC professional. While you can install them yourself, it may require significant work and could involve a partial air duct replacement, potentially costing $1,000 or more.

Indications include cracks in walls, uneven floors, and sticking doors or windows that suggest foundation movements.

In theory, a regular home inspection and a mobile home inspection accomplish the same things. They ensure there are no issues with the foundation, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, roof, siding, doors, windows, and more. In practice, though, the inspections can differ based on the layout, the type of foundation, and how easily accessible different parts of the home are. Mobile home inspections tend to take a bit longer because it’s more challenging to access home systems, especially if the mobile home doesn’t have an attic or crawl space.
