"From the moment they arrived you could tell you were in good hands. Our problem started with having an issue where multiple outlets in our kitchen suddenly stopped working. We found someone who claimed to be an electrician on Facebook. $125 later and nothing but a proposal for a $500 job that he didn't know if he could even do. He didnt even have his own tools...Goodbye! Cut to today.... Joe arrives early and promptly greets us with his trainee. After us explaining the issue he immediately jumped into action, explaining the entire process as it went. Less than an hour later, problem solved. He was very knowledgeable and I appreciate professional service. As a supervisor of a plumbing company, I know great workers when I see them. Absolutely will recommend to all my friends and family. Greatly appreciate your work!"

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Yes, the outdoors is one of the areas where GFCI is always required. The receptacles used outdoors must have a ground-fault circuit interrupter, or GFCI, for safety reasons. Not only does GFCI make it safer for operation even in wet locations, including bathrooms, outdoors, basements, and other areas, but also they’ll automatically trip if there’s an imbalance in the circuit, keeping you safe from electrocution and decreasing the risk of an electrical fire.

The five common types of landscape lighting are up-lighting, down-lighting, spotlights, built-in lighting, and pathway lighting.

  • Up-lighting casts light upwards from the ground, mostly for aesthetic purposes.

  • Down-lighting directs light onto the ground, lighting pathways, or outdoor space.

  • Spotlights cast direct, focused lighting in any direction.

  • Built-in lighting integrates lighting into an outdoor feature.

  • Pathway lighting illuminates walkways, increasing safety.

Between seasons, inspect cords for damage, replace burnt-out bulbs, and clean lighting fixtures to prevent dirt buildup. Proper storage in cool, dry conditions will extend the lights' lifespan and minimize repairs or replacements when redeployed.

Costs range from $100 to $400, depending on the issue and system type.

The cost to repair a short circuit depends on the type of repair. A faulty outlet or simple loose wire can be a simple fix that might only cost a handful of dollars. For example, if you need to rewire a house, you’ll spend around $2 to $4 per square foot, but replacing an entire electrical panel costs anywhere from $500 to $2,100.
