The sofa had two missing decorative pieces. Debbie recommended a local specialized woodworker and coordinated services with him. After six weeks, Debbie delivered the finished sofa and discussed in detail the work she had performed and restorative choices she had made based on the age of the sofa. Her knowledge about antique sofas is impressive and has increased our appreciation for the craftsmanship that had gone into the original manufacturing process. Debbie's pricing is commensurate with the level of service that Debbie provided. In our opinion, this has been a worthwhile investment and we throughly enjoy our reupholstered and rebuilt antique sofa. Other businesses either didn't return my initial or follow-up calls/emails or a price was given over the phone without seeing the job. This might be a small job for some - one of the chairs had a split seat, and both were loosening at the crosspieces, but they were not useable as is, and they have some family/sentimental value to me, so no matter how small the job was to someone else, it was important to me. I was so pleased to find someone that would do this for me, and I LOVE the result. It took a little longer than David's original estimate, but frankly, I didn't care as the result is two beautiful richly stained and finished chairs that have retained their antique look, but now are sturdy, and fit in with the other wood in our kitchen/dining area. David even delivered the chairs to our house when they were done. Wish I had found him first, before the agony of contacting so many others, but now that I know about M & M, I will return next time we have a job. Recommended him to my cousins, too. Very reliable on scheduling, too. I have never had an apology They sent 6 men instead of the usual 3 to expedite the move and they were here until 8:30 I had 6 to tip instead of the usual 3! I was presented with a final bill for $1200 or so dollars and refused to pay the entire amount until someone in charge came to my apt and discussed the various problems I had. While moving a large sofa into a room the men, instead of removing thedoor from its hinges forced the sofa through the door and badly gouged the woodwork. Despite calls about this no one has ever come to look at the damage . I had two large plastic hampers brand new, that had their tops broken, an antique chair with its back chipped, a Victorian plant stand with a broken plant holder, a torn garment bag and considerable evidence that storage of boxes was done carelessly.I was very disappointed in the general attitude of the company. No one seemed to take control and try to communicate their concern and to apologize. Apologies and concern for the customer go a long way in soothing bad feelings Meanwhile my bill has been reduced by $200 and I am yet to have bill or letter sent to me. I probably SHOULD start writing reviews because I often base my decisions on reviews by other people. Unfortunately, I decided to write one of my first reviews after a bad experience.
I am recently engaged. My boyfriend proposed to me with an heirloom diamond in a setting he knew wasn't my taste, and was planning on having me pick out a new setting I liked. I have spent the past few weeks finding photos of rings I like and taking them into jewelry stores around Rhode Island in the hopes of finding something similar. We also wanted to get the diamond appraised by itself before getting it reset.
We decided to go to Kodo's Jewelry after reading a couple of good reviews online. We called ahead to ask about their appraisal price, and also told them we were looking for a new setting for the diamond. When we got to the shop I began looking around at the jewelry cases while my fiancé spoke to the owner. He told the owner we were the ones who had called about getting an appraisal and a setting. The owner took the ring, looked at it, and told us that we were "wasting his time", and that he didn't work for free. My fiancé told the owner that we didn't expect him to do the appraisal for free, that we were planning on paying for it. The owner continued to tell us we were wasting his time, and then began insulting the ring we brought in, telling us that the diamond was "junk" and it wasn't even worth spending the money on an appraisal. We obviously left at that point don't plan on ever going back.
I guess part of me is glad that the owner was such a jerk. After leaving Kodo's we decided to go to Baxters. I originally hadn't wanted to go all the way to Warwick because it was rush hour, but I am SO GLAD we did. Baxters was wonderful! We showed them a photo of my favorite ring, I told them the one thing I wished I could change about it. They were able to custom make it for me, and made it even better than I thought it could be! We have an antique house located on a small urban lot. During the fall and winter construction was done on our kitchen, we were not living in the house and were not able to adequately do fall cleanup. In April I contacted Bret Roberts who does work on my neighbor's yard. I was hoping for a cleanup of leaves, some tree branches, perhaps some trimming and a regular maintenance contract. He said that he would be able to do the job in the latter part of May and that he would consult his schedule. Nothing happened, he did not contact us, and when he was called about a schedule he was grumpy, rude, and unresponsive. Weeks went by, and I began to think about finding another landscaper. Then suddenly he appeared early in the morning at the very end of May. I was eating breakfast and by the time I got dressed and outside he had already performed a severe pruning on a Japanese Maple tree that we had planted three years before. We did not want this done, the tree was a screen between our house and the next door house. My wife, who was very attached to the tree, was devastated when she realized the damage done. The rest of the clean-up was very harsh leaving bare ground everywhere. When I got the bill, I was astonished at the amount, nearly $600. You can see by his description above what was done in a very small urban lot (4,500 sq ft, including the house). The main problem with this company is communication. Bret did not tell us when he was coming or what he was going to do. If you don't care what is done or when or how much it costs you might hire East Side Landscape. Otherwise not."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ma/seekonk/east-side-landscap-llc-reviews-7897711.htm"},"position":10}]}

I’ve now taken 2 antique Persian rugs to Rustigians. The Rustigians team impeccably cleaned and repaired the first at a very reasonable price. I had just purchased the second at auction, and Edie from Rustigians immediately noticed numerous issues with the condition of the rug. She...
Village Green Renewal (now "Rare") exceeded my expectations. Excellent workmanship, polite, professional staff, beautiful end result -- all at a very reasonable price. One more note: it can be nerve-wracking letting a treasured heirloom, or irreplaceable antique out of your sight, but owner...

It went very well. We went over to Debbie's studio to select fabric. She provided recommendations, which were very helpful. She and her husband picked up the sofa from our house and delivered it at the agreed time, approximately six weeks later. The work performed was of the highest quality...

Home appraisals can come in low, even during an ultra-hot real estate market. Here’s what to do when a home appraisal is lower than the offer you receive.
