I rarely write reviews. I probably SHOULD start writing reviews because I often base my decisions on reviews by other people. Unfortunately, I decided to write one of my first reviews after a bad experience. I am recently engaged. My boyfriend proposed to me with an heirloom diamond in a setting he knew wasn't my taste, and was planning on having me pick out a new setting I liked. I have spent the past few weeks finding photos of rings I like and taking them into jewelry stores around Rhode Island in the hopes of finding something similar. We also wanted to get the diamond appraised by itself before getting it reset. We decided to go to Kodo's Jewelry after reading a couple of good reviews online. We called ahead to ask about their appraisal price, and also told them we were looking for a new setting for the diamond. When we got to the shop I began looking around at the jewelry cases while my fiancé spoke to the owner. He told the owner we were the ones who had called about getting an appraisal and a setting. The owner took the ring, looked at it, and told us that we were "wasting his time", and that he didn't work for free. My fiancé told the owner that we didn't expect him to do the appraisal for free, that we were planning on paying for it. The owner continued to tell us we were wasting his time, and then began insulting the ring we brought in, telling us that the diamond was "junk" and it wasn't even worth spending the money on an appraisal. We obviously left at that point don't plan on ever going back. I guess part of me is glad that the owner was such a jerk. After leaving Kodo's we decided to go to Baxters. I originally hadn't wanted to go all the way to Warwick because it was rush hour, but I am SO GLAD we did. Baxters was wonderful! We showed them a photo of my favorite ring, I told them the one thing I wished I could change about it. They were able to custom make it for me, and made it even better than I thought it could be!

I have ben doing business with Kodos Jewelry for over 20 years. They are the most honest, kind, talented people I have ever met and would never have jewelry repairs or stone resettings performed by anyone else. Their prices are very reasonable and they always either have the item ready when promised before. Their estimates are always mark on and they willl even map your stone for you so you can be sure you are getting the same stone back in the new setting. I really have never had any complaints about Kodos. I have purchased jewelry for myself, as gifts, had my engagement ring reset, my mother's, mother-in-law's and my diamonds reset into a three stone ring and had multiple items of jewelry repaired, Not once have I ever been disappointed. I have referred my niece and her fiancee to have her engagement ring made (which she had designed) and it came out perfect! They were thrilled. Friends, family and neighbors have also been referred and all have been so thrilled and satisfied with his work that they, in turn, have also recommended him. Friends have been referred to Kodos for purchase of jewelry and they, too, are so pleased with the prices that they send other friends. All I can say is Thank you to Kodos and Kudos to you!
