"We ran into an emergency at the worst possible time, on Christmas Eve and needed a locksmith to open up the door to let our neighbor into our house while we were out of town. We called Kevin and he was the most kind and helpful guy you could imagine. I mean, he was wrapping presents for his children and still ran out the door to get to our house within 15 minutes and had the problem solved in 30! Thanks Kevin -- we owe you one!!!

"After I was locked out of the car, I immediately looked for a locksmith. I consulted with a friend and she recommended Quick Pick Locksmith to me. After I called, Tom arrived 15 minutes later, opened my car, and helped me look for the key in the car. Unfortunately, we couldn't find my key inside the car. I asked Tom if he could make a key for my car, and Tom immediately said yes. The price was so cheap that I asked him to make me two and he did a quick, professional, and courteous job. I will definitely continue to recommend you. Thank you for your enjoyable service."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

If your door handle turns without opening, the most likely culprit is a loose or stripped spindle. This part connects the handles to the latch mechanism, and when it’s not properly engaged, turning the handle does nothing. Other issues might include a broken latch, loose screws, or even something small blocking an inner mechanism. In any case, it’s usually a matter of tightening, adjusting, or replacing a worn-out part inside the handle assembly—or calling in a professional to do it for you.

Keyless locks are often considered safer since they’re protected by passcodes instead of a physical key, making it harder to be picked. However, they are not infallible. And like all electronic devices, outdated models are more prone to problems and safety concerns. If you’ve experienced multiple lockouts in the past year, or your lock is responding slower than usual after you key in the passcode, it might be time to upgrade to a newer one. Even if your lock is working fine, you should still change your access code at least twice a year.

A deadbolt differs from a regular lock in its design, construction, and security level. Regular locks are typically used for interior doors, such as for bedrooms and bathrooms, and provide minimal security. They are easy to install and use, often featuring a simple locking mechanism on the inside. In contrast, a deadbolt is one of the most secure locks you can install on an exterior door. Its internal construction is designed to withstand significant force, adding a crucial layer of security that can deter intruders. While deadbolts may be more expensive and complicated to install, they are cost-effective for the security they provide and are built to hold up to wear and tear.

Rekeying door locks yourself costs a fraction of what you would expect to pay a locksmith. On average, it costs between $50 to $100 to hire a local locksmith to rekey your house, though labor costs may vary based on where you live. For a DIY solution, you can expect to spend $11 to $25 on a rekeying kit.

Locksmiths offer keyless entry systems, high-security locks, panic bars, electronic access control, and biometric security solutions.
