"Excellent. We called to have about 1/3 of an entire poplar removed. It crashed down onto our deck, and did some damage. It laid right in front of our cabin door. I made the call to 4 tree service companies, and, Jake from Higleyâ s called me back in just under an hour, and another hour later, a member of his team was on site, cutting up, and ridding our deck of a large portion of tree. Very responsive, very understanding, and quick to provide a solution to the problem. Very reasonably priced, and professional from start to finish. Iâ m having them do more work for me later on this summer, and confidently so. This is the company you want for your tree service."

"Carefully spent almost as much time assessing the situation of each tree he felled as the cutting process.Took all the precautions necessary to drop the tree in the right spot. These 60’to90’ trees were close to my house and he dropped them perfectly. Would easily recommend Eric."

"Uziyah and his team gutted and renovated a vacant apartment I have in Brooklyn. I had a tenant there for 8 years and it was time to renovate and modernize the unit, making it fit for the tenants coming in from abroad. I would hire and recommend this company."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should trim the lower branches of your maple tree for safety. Trimming maple trees as they grow helps lift the crown and canopy and trains it to grow straight up. A good rule of thumb is to prune enough branches to leave 6 feet of clearance under the tree.

The best tool to cut trees is a chain saw. You can adjust your chain saw to the correct size based on the size of the branches, offering you the fastest and cleanest cut for medium- to large-sized trees. Depending on the type of chainsaw you use, you can cut through larger trees than you would with a more manual tool like an ax.

It depends on where you live—but in most areas, leaves begin falling in September and continue falling until January or February. Warmer regions, such as Southern states, may see leaves fall a bit later in the calendar year. It also depends on the type of trees in your yard and their maturity.

Whether you should remove the roots of a dead tree depends on whether they’re damaging nearby areas. For instance, if the roots continue to grow near sidewalks, driveways, or the foundation of your home, they can cause damage. If you want to plant something else in that spot, removing the roots can make it easier for the new tree or plant to grow.

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. Young pie, sour, and tart cherry trees that are over 30 inches tall in the fall or winter before the tree blooms can benefit from heading cuts.
