"I had severe foundation water damage to my kitchen walls & flooring. My house sits on a hill so kitchen is partially underground. It all seemed quite hopeless to fix, but from the salesman to the crew they reassured me & were never in doubt! They completed the work in 3 days. Now itâ s dry as a bone! I was also very impressed with the cleanup after!"

"Jeremy did an excellent job. New stones were applied to an existing driveway and a large turnaround was added. Excellent job spreading the stone, tamping it down and perfect job adding the turnaround. Would not hesitate for one minute to hire Jeremy again!"

"I'm sorry there is no option for more than five stars! Mike Baker /Village Heating is AMAZING!!! I bought a large property with a farmhouse and 3 cabins. Mike installed a mini-split in one of the cabins. à  He helped me choose the best product and explained all the details. The system came in quickly and he did a great install. Then, he repaired the propane heating system in the other cabin. Next, Mike did a BIG install; the farmhouse. Again he helped me to choose the best system and product. He put in eight units! The condensers were meticulously placed, and every wire was beautifully covered so that the outside of the house looked seamless. I could not be on-site, so Mike kept me updated with very detailed reports on the daily progress. He came early, stayed late, and was even there on the weekend so that I could meet with him. No detail, regardless of how small, was overlooked. His prices are excellent, and his supplier is knowledgable and well-stocked. Yesterday, Mike and I went through the two remaining cabins and discussed options for a mini-split system to replace the propane. I will most definitely have him do the next two installs. Since I am new to that part of PA (and Mike is a resident), he was also helpful in recommending other contractors for other jobs on the property; Mike was a valuable resource. I can not rave enough. He is a true professional and a terrific guy. By the end of the project, he was like one of the family!!"

"Great! I had this work performed in March 2018. Summer 2018 has seen constant rain and flash flooding. Previously I would have had several feet of water in my basement from the saturating rain and storms that came through together (5+inches in 6 hours with 12 inches in 48hrs in already wet ground). Basement has been completely dry. I thought work would be more noticeable. The concrete over the drain is nicely done. No complaints about the work, better results than I expected (I expected it to be more noticeable)."

"Dan and his crew repaired a bridge that is in my driveway. The bridge goes over a water run-off trench. They poured a concrete foundation under the bridge to minimize erosion and installed jacks for supporting the bridge. They also replaced a section of my driveway that was crumbling apart. They did a wonderful job, were neat, on time and cost effective. I would highly recommend them for your job."

"Bob responded to my emergency call immediately. I was surprised at how quickly he completed the work too - - I think it took him less than two hours. Bob is professional, and explains everything he is going to do. He guarantees his work, and equipment he installs. Bob also identified another potential problem, but assured it was something to keep an eye on, and did not require any work to be done. I appreciate his honesty."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally unhealthy and can be dangerous to live in a damp basement. The damp air can negatively affect your breathing and lungs, and the moisture promotes mold growth and pest infestations. Inhaling mold spores or waste particles from insects and rodents attracted to the moisture can be hazardous. This damp, moldy air can also circulate into your main living area. It is crucial to resolve any moisture problems and implement preventative measures before using your basement as a living space.

No. Sump pumps have different capacities, which refers to the volume of water that they can remove. They also come in various horsepower ratings, which measure the size of the pump’s motor. For many homes, 1/3 horsepower is enough. But if you live in an area that floods often, you might need a more powerful model.

Installation typically takes 1-2 days, depending on the scope and site preparation.

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

DIY is possible for small systems like French drains. Professional installation ensures proper grading and long-term effectiveness.
