"I liked that there was no nonsense. Their salesman was straightforward and the price was fair. We were also impressed with the installers. They installed all the windows in 1 day and they look great. I'm happy I chose them."

Me and my brother has spent the last 15 years in the contracting field, putting in the long hours and learning the trade the right way. After years of growth and knowledge, we decided it was time to take that experience and build something of our own. Our goal is simple: honest work, quality craftsmanship, and treating every property like it’s our own.

"MY Window Worries are over and trust me I worried a lot! I had 2 large picture windows around 9 ft wide and 2 double hung 7000 series installed in a 60 year old home that still had the original wooden case windows. The efficiency of the old windows was terrible. I couldn't stop saying Wow when Jake showed me the first window! My fiance also couldn't believe the difference. The windows exceed my expectations in looks and performance. The Wooden inserts used around the inside look fantastic. It's a shame to put drapes on them. Since moving in to this home last fall I have not been able to open the insulated drapes in order to help keep the heat, draft and cold out. I have already noticed even with the drapes open my heat pump doesn't need to be run 24x7 like before. These windows open and close so smoothly with one finger, that is how they should work when installed Correctly. Only a couple of my old windows opened due to being painted shut over the years so I was excited about that. The flex screen is a great option as well no more bent screen frames. Cleaning is also a breeze. You really have to see these in action to believe the difference. Oh I almost forgot I live about 40' from a busy highway and the road traffic now is just a whisper.I actually am able to turn the tv down from level 10 to 7 it's that much quieter. Another WOW When Jake came to give me an estimate I explained I have had bad experiences in the past with Window installations. I told him this home was built by my father and I absolutely needed this to be done right. He told me he would install them himself! I immediately felt much more at ease. The installation is Perfect inside and out right down to the invisible caulk lines. All gaps well insulated before the trim and cap was installed (something my last installation didn't get). Jake has been great to work with through the whole process start to finish. Professional, Knowledgeable and a very talented contractor for sure. I have several more widows to replace in the future I will absolutely be calling West Penn Windows and doors to do them. I really couldn't be happier. In fact I can't even find one little thing to complain about. Except I wish I had the money to have done all 12 windows. Thank you Jake and Clint for making my home much more attractive and comfortable"

Doors questions, answered by experts

You can use wood, metal, or plastic as a door shim, but keep in mind that wood will rot easier than the other two materials. Your local hardware store should have at least one type in stock. Alternatively, you can trim a piece of cardboard to fit underneath your door hinge and work as a temporary, makeshift door shim.

You will need to cut or break a boomstick so it is wider than the door and long enough to anchor outside the door frame. Extend the broomstick horizontally under the doorknob, ensuring it's snug. Now using long screws and a drill, anchor the broomstick to the wall outside the door frame. Remember that you won't be able to open the door afterward. Do not proceed with this hack if your home has no alternative exit.

Yes, it is essential that you perform bi-annual maintenance on your bifold doors. This means checking the hardware, cleaning the door and the tracks, and lubricating the locks. Most of this work can be done on your own, but if you wish for a more thorough inspection, you should call in a professional door repair company.

There aren’t many problems with fire doors except that they slow down or cut off ventilation at the higher rating levels. For this reason, work with a professional to ensure you have adequate ventilation throughout your house or workspace. The sealing around a fire door is meant to allow for a specific amount of ventilation and will need regular inspections to ensure adequate airflow.

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.
