"I purchased my home in September of 2018 after living in it for 8 years. In December just before Christmas I received a letter from the insurance company that was recommended by the mortgage company informing me that my home had failed inspection because of a unsafe roof and that they were terminating my policy in 30 days. I was frantic because without insurance the mortgage company can call the loan due and forclose. I tried calling every insurance company to no avail...nobody would write the policy. Unable to sleep I was watching late night TV and saw a commercial for USA. I called next day and explained my situation to "Tom" who informed me that it was his company and he would do everything in his power to help. He was at my home the next day...did his inspection...wrote the estimate and the week after New Years they started work. The job was finished three days before termination day. I immediately notified the insurance company to reschedule an inspection and the rest is history. But that is not the end of the story. When the original work was done there was a small extension on the back of the house that we weren't sure about so we elected not to do anything with it. Fast forward to March of 2021 and I called Tom back and asked if he would be willing to finish the job. He said he would love to help and the job was completed today (27 April 2021). The work is as usual excellent. The work crew was courteous and efficient. So much so that when the crew began working I was informed by one of the men that the rain hat on my vent pipe was missing...he started the rest of the crew and left for Home Depot to get me a replacement part. Above and beyond..."

"Everything went smoothly--the window installation, insulation, beadboard, caulking, electrical work. Sunroom looks great, well insulated--can not say enough good things about this company."

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"AJ Window and Door Solutions did a fantastic job with reshingling our roof. From the first contact with Jim and his knowledge of the product to the actual installation, the process couldn't have gone smoother. We loved the family feel of the company and having the owner present to supervise install. We would definitely use AJ again if the need ever arises."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Yes, new stucco siding can increase your home's value and curb appeal, similar to other new siding materials. Homeowners can expect an average return on investment (ROI) of around 70%. For an average stucco installation costing $5,700, this can translate to a value increase of nearly $4,000. The value can be further enhanced by choosing high-end textures or simulating more expensive materials like brick. Stucco is also a durable, fire-resistant, and versatile material that can last 50 years or more, making it an attractive feature for potential buyers, especially in hotter climates where its insulating properties are beneficial.

Generally speaking, the thicker the siding, the higher the quality. Thicker siding provides a stronger resistance against extreme weather conditions. Thicker siding also tends to fade more slowly under the sun. Hardie boards, a popular fiber cement siding option, is usually 5/16 inches thick. Meanwhile, masonry-finished cement siding varies from 5/8 to 5/8 inches thick.

No matter what types of metal siding you are cleaning, you should be able to clean them using the same processes you use for aluminum siding. Steel siding and aluminum siding both need cleaning about once per year. You can clean metal siding or aluminum siding without a pressure washer or with one.

Different types of siding provide unique aesthetic and structural features, with each material commanding its own cost. Availability of materials and shipping costs also factors largely into the cost. The common types of siding materials include:

  • Stucco: $7–$9 per square foot

  • Wood: $1–$15 per square foot

  • Engineered wood: $1–$6 per square foot

  • Aluminum: $3–$6 per square foot

  • Fiber cement: $5–$14 per square foot

  • Brick: $10–$20 per square foot

  • Brick veneer: $3–$10 per square foot

  • Stone: $7–$30 per square foot

  • Stone veneer: $5–$11 per square foot

The lifespan of siding ranges from 20 to over 100 years, depending heavily on the material, climate, quality of installation, and maintenance.

  • Vinyl, Wood, and Aluminum: Typically last 20 to 40 years. Engineered wood may need replacement after just 20 years.

  • Fiber Cement: Lasts around 50 years.

  • Brick and Stone: These are the most durable, lasting for a century or more with proper care.

The longevity of any siding can be shortened if it's not properly maintained or if damage is not repaired promptly. Regular cleaning is vital. It's time for a replacement when you see widespread damage, signs of water intrusion, or a spike in energy costs.
