"Overall, it was a really good experience. My gutters had screens on them and hadn't been cleaned in several years due to my mistaken belief that screens would eliminate this maintenance. When I noticed things growing out of one section of gutter, I did some research and realized my error. So I contacted Jonathan and he responded right away, explaining 3 different ways to possibly go with this. He sent me a detailed proposal and once I accepted his recommendation to clean and inspect the gutters and screens, his crew came and did the work. Now, the gutters are cleared the growing things are gone. I am very pleased with the results."

"LeafFilter doesn't clean gutters, they sell and install their LeafFilter Gutter products and only clean the gutters if you buy their product. I can't even begin to afford their product so I wasn't able to get my gutter cleaned by them."

"Very professional and friendly. We had a very tough kitchen drain clog. Bill showed up and worked very hard to get our drain open and the water flowing properly. He was very neat and clean putting down drop cloths to protect our floors. We were very happy with his work and are so pleased that he was able to get our drain open again. We will definitely keep him in mind if we need a plumber in the future. So glad we found him!"

Small jobs welcome

I’m James Gilliam age 62 in good health. Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The most common problem with gutters is clogging from debris like leaves, blossoms, and seeds from surrounding trees. This debris can block downspouts, leading to improper drainage and water overflow.

Other common issues include:

  • Leaks and holes, which can often be repaired with gutter sealant or caulk.

  • Rust, sagging, or detachment from the roofline.

  • Damage from strong storms.

  • Improperly pitched gutters that don't drain correctly.

Regular cleaning in the spring and fall is the best way to prevent most of these problems. You may need to clean them more often during periods of heavy leaf fall.

Using less toilet paper is the easiest way to prevent future clogs. Also, avoid flushing sanitary products, thick paper towels, or hair down the toilet. If you’ve been using a brick in the tank to reduce the water used to flush the toilet, take it out immediately. Bricks will eventually fall apart and clog your toilet drain. Keeping your toilet lid closed also helps avoid future clogs.

Clean regularly to prevent clogs, check for cracks, and ensure downspouts direct water away from the foundation.

Whether or not you can use a pressure washer to clean your gutter guards depends on the type of gutter guard you have and the strength of the pressure washer. Most gutter guards can handle a low-pressure setting but check first. If you’re unsure if your gutter guard is designed for pressure washing, check your manufacturer’s instructions, ask a pro, or use a garden hose to clean the gutter guard instead. As gutter guards age, they become less resistant to the strong forces of a power washer, so treat older gutter guards with more care.

The trick to getting gleaming gutters can vary based on the material of your gutters. Aluminum gutters can often be restored to pristine condition by using a cloth to scrub them with a solution consisting of 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water. Vinyl gutters can be whitened using dish soap and water. For deeply stained vinyl gutters, adding bleach with water and dish soap may help to remove black streaks. Many retailers sell premixed gutter sprays. Applying cleaning solutions to dry gutters before rinsing can help cleaners attach to dirt and grime for easier removal.
