"We had an excellent experience with Plymouth Landscaping! We hired them to complete a deck removal and patio install, with some plantings around the perimeter. Joe and his team were always available to answer questions, and we had a LOT. Our yard is small and sloped and they came up with brilliant solutions in order to utilize the space we were working with. Jose, Arturo and Carlos were super knowledgeable, professional, cleaned up every evening before departing. I would highly recommend Plymouth Landscaping for your backyard projects!"

"Anthony and his team replaced our 35+ year massive deck and retaining walls. Working with them was great from bid to completion. Anthony was quick to answer all questions and make sure even little problems were resolved quickly. This was a very large project that took 2 teams of 3 to 6 each to complete over 6 weeks. They worked efficiently and with great pride in their work. The completed project looks fantastic. I can't wait for spring to complete the landscaping and use our great new space."

"We just moved out of the home where he did landscaping work and to this day, the plants and structures he built are still in tact, plants are healthy and everything was in great condition. Good quality materials installed by a skilled professional! Thank you, Mr. Teter!"

"Dan from DT was very responsive to requests and was available quickly. I had his team do a mulch job on the front side of my house. Had some additional outdoor work I needed on the back landscaping beds and they took care of that too - for a very reasonable rate. Will recommend and would hire again for sure"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can put topsoil over sand to encourage grass growth. The topsoil will help to improve water retention and promote grass roots’ development, making it a recommended step of the seeding process. Adding a layer of topsoil will provide additional nutrients to the sandy soil, helping the grass grow and remain healthy through many seasons.

You should plant trees at least 15 to 20 feet away from your house, and more if the tree will grow large and spread its limbs. Trees pose several dangers to houses when planted too close. They can litter the roof with leaves and branches, create fire hazards, make a ladder for larger pests, and even damage the foundation as their roots grow.

It is possible to plant a tree over a ground stump if it was ground very deeply. However, it is typically best to plant elsewhere so your new tree has room to establish a strong, healthy root system. If you want to plant a tree in the same spot where you currently have a stump, you may want to consider other options, such as stump removal.

The soil around your foundation should slope down and away from your home, not toward it. If the grading drops the farther you are from your home, you can enhance the slope by removing more soil. Mark off a few feet from your house and dig up some of this soil. Regrading around your fountain should encourage water to flow away from your home and not collect or “pond.”

You should avoid planting grass, shrubs, plants, and trees in freezing temperatures, as the ground can get frozen and become too hard for proper root growth. It’s best to plant in the fall to allow your plants to establish root systems before the first frost. Landscaping when the average temperature in your area is between 50 and 60 degrees will usually deliver the best results.
