"It is hard to find excellent customer service when looking for a pro for your home projects. Baldwin Masonry has it! Rich was responsive to my questions, even after finishing the project. His team did a great job and showed up on time every day to put my new steps in. They won me over with their staff member, Christina. She answered all my questions in a timely manner and was very friendly. I highly recommend Baldwin Masonry."

"Hired them for 3 projects I have installed this basement waterproofing solution in 2 homes. System speaks for itself. Nothing better on the market. Work was first rate. Expectations were presented prior to the project. Details on what would happen and how the project would go. Would not hesitate to use again ERV installed New basement egress. This project did not go as planned, but not at the fault of basement systems. Was originally supposed to get a BILCO door but due to unforseen issues, that was not able to happen. They ended up installing a new staircase from my basement to ground level. Work was first rate and ended up better than a bilco door. Company re landscaped and everything is as it was. All work performed was top notch and no issues on anything they have done"

"Anthony and his team did a rather large job and repointed and waterproofed all bricks on our house and chimney, replaced a few spalled bricks and repointed other masonry. It was an easy process from the quote to scheduling and completing the work. It only took a few days, and the results are quite impressive, for a reasonable price. Anthony stands behind his work and makes sure itâ s completed to the customerâ s satisfaction. I highly recommend him."

"I thought it all went well. Mike Travaglini came to house and we walked out ,what I wanted done. A couple days later he e-mailed me a bid which I accepted. This was a pretty extensive job and took three days. The first day was spent  removing old product like the entire driveway and 12 blocks of concrete sidewalk which was all stripped plus a concrete apron leading into driveway   The second day was the day all replacement concrete was poured and graded. The concrete was wheeled from truck to site. The third day the asphalt truck came and product again wheeled from truck to driveway site. There were 7 or 8 men working each day. They cleaned up properly every day and old product removed from site. They were friendly and professional.  Years in the business showed well.
The final product was awesome. I have a new asphalt driveway;a new concrete apron leading up to it and 12 new concrete blocks that suffered from soil erosion mostly. My payment was the same as Mike's original bid. Probably more  work for TMC in the future from my end. They did a nice job within the time frame they promised.. The work picked up the whole front of house.

"Randy was great and called me within minutes to get details on the project, then arranged to have Tony, one of their masons, come see it in person. Tony was friendly, professional, and did a great job once I decided to go with them to repair some crumbling brick walls in our backyard. I appreciate how quickly they were able to start the work, within a couple weeks from inquiry to completion. Would recommend to anyone needing masonry done."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, there are many disadvantages to stone houses. They are slow to build and the materials are pricey, both of which balloon the total cost. Stone walls require a more robust foundation, which costs more to install. Running plumbing, electrical, and HVAC through a stone house is much more difficult too, so homeowners need to seriously consider if the aesthetic benefit is worth the cost of building with stone. One of the questions to ask a masonry contractor is if a similar aesthetic can be achieved with another material.

Yes, concrete is significantly stronger than masonry, especially if the concrete pour includes reinforcements, like steel rebar. Concrete is a uniform material that can withstand compression, sheer force, and tensile force as long as it’s reinforced. Masonry involves the use of mortar or grout to connect individual building materials, like brick, stone, or tile. Mortar and grout are also reasonably strong and resist compression well, but they don’t come close to the strength of poured concrete.

Unless you’ve worked in the masonry industry before, it is in your best interest if you hire a pro for any masonry needs. Masonry-related jobs require a high skill level and can be extremely time-consuming. If anything goes wrong, a licensed and insured masonry contractor would be able to take care of the subsequent repairs, giving you additional peace of mind.

Choosing the right paint color for your brick house can be a daunting task. A great strategy is to find painted brick houses that you like and try to replicate the look by researching their colors or asking the homeowners for the specific paint color code.

If you're looking for specific ideas, several colors work well on brick. Different shades of white, such as off-white or cream-white, can create a modern, timeless, and classic look that is unlikely to go out of style. For a more contemporary aesthetic, you might consider a matte black tone. Other popular choices include gray, blue, and sage green.

Limewash can be removed from brick, but the method of removal will depend on how long the limewash has been on the brick. If the limewash has fully dried—which happens after about five days—you’ll need to use a diluted muriatic acid mixture to remove it. If there are multiple coats of limewash, you may need to apply the acid mixture several times to fully remove it from the brick.
