Small jobs welcome

"I needed someone to replace insulation under my mobile home. Paul responded quickly, was polite, helpful, answered my questions and submitted a very reasonable estimate. He came today to install insulation under my mobile home. He did a fantastic job and cleaned everything up. He even took pictures of his finished work so I could see without crawling under the house. He does a variety of “handyman” jobs and I would not hesitate to hire him again and would recommend him to my friends and family."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

Thoughtful holiday decorating directly counters the dark, gray winter months by adding essential light and boosting your seasonal well-being. Exterior lighting improves safety by illuminating icy walkways and driveways during early evening hours. Participating in elaborate neighborhood displays also strengthens community connections across Scranton. Additionally, hiring professionals for this work often uncovers hidden exterior maintenance issues, allowing you to address gutter or fascia repairs promptly.

Helpful?

Timing your installation before the first hard freeze ensures better adhesive bonding and safer roof access. You must anchor displays securely to withstand heavy winter winds and frequent snow accumulation. The success of holiday decorating also depends on your home's electrical capacity. Older homes often feature smaller electrical panels that require careful load assessment to prevent tripped breakers and fire hazards during the PA winter season.

Helpful?

Watch for loose, bent, or missing mounting clips caused by Scranton’s frequent freeze-thaw cycles. Inspect light strands for crushed wires or broken sockets from winter ice dams. You should also check for yellowed or brittle wire coatings caused by summer humidity and winter cold. On older homes, look for rotted fascia boards, sagging gutters, or crumbling brick mortar where previous holiday decorating hardware was attached.

Helpful?

Overloading older electrical panels with exterior lights causes frequent breaker trips, flickering indoor lights, or warm outlet covers. Inspect your gutters for sagging caused by heavy light strands. Improperly mounted holiday decorating hardware damages brick mortar and introduces moisture into wood fascia boards. Leaving lights wrapped tightly around trees throughout the long Scranton winter damages branches, while driving stakes into frozen ground harms your lawn.

Helpful?

Always verify that professionals carry general liability and workers' compensation insurance before they access your roof. Any electrical upgrades required for holiday decorating must be handled by a licensed electrician. Choose local contractors who understand how to navigate aging gutters and older electrical systems common in PA homes. Confirm that their service includes timely takedown, off-season storage, and a thorough electrical panel assessment before installation begins.
