Customers say: True professional

"Did what I asked and gave me a break on his daily rate. As a senior citizen on a fixed income that was important to me. Came right away, did the job very well. Very professional. Cleaned everything up afterward. Recommend him for seniors who have trees that have become overgrown. Will hire again."

"They cut the tree down exactly how I wanted it. They offered me three different places to lay the tree down and I chose the one I wanted. They were professional and courteous and I will get them again when I need another tree cut down."

"The tree he removed was 90 feet tall, the diameter of the stump was 5 feet at it's widest point, and it was located within 20 feet of my house and 35 feet of the neighboring house. Chris Musselman is gifted in this line of work. He had to maneuver the aerial lift between the two houses with electric wires that connect to the telephone pole on the street and drop the limbs in a very small side yard. He was very efficient and pleasant to work with."

"I have had John do work for myself & family members for several years now. I also am on Saxton borough council in charge of town Maintenance and John has done many jobs for the borough. He always finishes his work and does more than expected. I would refer him any time I have the chance. He is a professional in his field. I would highly recommend him. Larry Miller"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Sometimes, knowing when you need tree-trimming services is straightforward, and other times, you have to do some investigating. Some tell-tale signs that you should have your tree trimmed include:

  • A poorly-formed tree with unruly branches, which makes the tree appear odd-shaped.

  • A tree with tall or large branches that interfere with power lines or your home’s exterior.

  • A tree that provides too much shade in the yard due to branch overgrowth.

If you want to take your tree-planting hobby beyond your outdoor space, here are a few great ways to do it:

  • Encourage your neighbors to participate in the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program, which has a four-step framework that helps communities grow and maintain their own tree cover.

  • Support businesses that plant trees.

  • Lobby your local government to plant more trees around your community.

  • Donate to a tree-planting charity.

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

The ideal time to prune a tree depends on the type of tree. Typically, late winter or early spring is a good time to prune but isn't always the case for "towering trees." It's best to trim when trees are dormant and before blooms appear but can vary depending on the tree type. It's always best to research the type of tree or ask a professional tree trimmer to determine when is the perfect time to prune your tree.

The average tree pruning should take one hour with the right equipment. Light pruning of a small tree may only take around 15 to 20 minutes. Pruning multiple large trees in your yard will probably take several hours, including cleanup. However, tree pruning pros can do this job much faster, so you can rely on pros if you’re short on time.
