Customers say: True professional

"Did what I asked and gave me a break on his daily rate. As a senior citizen on a fixed income that was important to me. Came right away, did the job very well. Very professional. Cleaned everything up afterward. Recommend him for seniors who have trees that have become overgrown. Will hire again."

"The tree he removed was 90 feet tall, the diameter of the stump was 5 feet at it's widest point, and it was located within 20 feet of my house and 35 feet of the neighboring house. Chris Musselman is gifted in this line of work. He had to maneuver the aerial lift between the two houses with electric wires that connect to the telephone pole on the street and drop the limbs in a very small side yard. He was very efficient and pleasant to work with."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Only trim palm trees as needed, which is usually about once per year. However, don't stick to that schedule if the palm tree doesn't need it. Avoid trimming palm trees when possible. It’s best to trim palm trees only when you notice a buildup of dead fronds. That said, leave the brown fronds during the dormant season because this organic matter helps protect the tree from the cooler weather.

Professionals use assessments, strategic cuts, specialized equipment, and safety measures to ensure healthy growth or the safe removal of trees or shrubs.

In nature, there are many things that can cause a tree to die, including diseases, insects, and natural disasters such as fires or droughts. Non-natural methods of killing a tree include herbicides or manual intervention, such as cutting it down. Consult a tree removal professional about your options for naturally killing a tree.

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

Most experts recommend removing a tree that has sustained more than 25% loss in the limbs, trunk, or circumference of the bark. Doing an initial trimming of damaged and dangling branches, but then waiting a few days of monitoring to decide how much more you might need to cut can help you better assess the total damage to the tree. However, consulting a tree maintenance pro to make this determination the best course of action before removing a tree.
